Yea alot of people like that Clarion in BMWs. I was going to get that same one, but I went with the Eclipse 8454 for the 24bit DAC and 8v preout.

I just purchased the clarion dxz645mp and the mandarine color matches perfect. Only thing I don't like is the 1.8v preouts and the speaker rpm whine that I have to get rid of.

I have the same line of Clarion, but with the Music Catcher. I love it! Great choice....now to replace the speakers and decide on a sub in a box or the JL Stealthboxes. What to do!?!?!

Yes sir Clarion is the way to go for matching your dash/lights. I have the DXZ845MC with MC. Not a bad unit if I must say. I'll be selling it soon to make room for a 7" motorized touch panel LCD screen for a onboard ITX computer. :redspot

Can it control an I-BUS CD changer?

Alpines match the dash just fine as well. I have a cda 7894 and it matches the interior lighting just fine, the newer ones have alot of different shades that you can select from...

simply put clarion pro audio ROX. My last two aftermarket head units were Clarion. For me, there is no other choice. I had a brushed aluminum head unit, from about 3 years ago, that would have matched the brushed aluminum trim in the car, but I wanted to stay stock. I should have kept and installed that Clarion.

I have the DXZ845MC. Damn thing ate a CD yesterday so now I have to get it fixed. Bought it on Ebay through "authorized" dealer. Don't have a receipt, so warranty is non-existant without receipt. I originally purchased this over the alpine 9835 because Alpine did not support sirius, now they do, guess I'll pay to fix the Clarion and go from there. It's been a kick-ass stereo for the most part.

Way too tough

took me 10 seconds on the google;

And no, Ce-net changers. (Clarion)

NOTHING controls your stock changer but the factory heads.

I didn't realize you were the forum police anyone can do a search and find the answer to anything. But this forum was designed to help fellow enthusiast by answering questions and sharing information. You don't see me being a forum Nazi and going to one of your post (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=409954) and pointing out it against the forum rules to post feeler sales. I also didn't ask if it would control my stock changer (since I don't have a stock changer)

ahhhhhhh yeah.......... I too could of "googled" it and found it on the Internet. My question was if you see my original post "where did you get it". Dealer, online, Ebay, etc. because it's last years model.

Wow, you took the time to search through my posts to find violations, but not to look up the specs on the head unit. I'm wholly impressed. Guess you got the same kind of motivation I get when I see that obnoxious eye roll when someone doesn't answer a question immediately. You're not the only one that does it; don't take it personal, it just regularly pisses me off when people do that.

As far as the stock changer comment, some cars used a pioneer I-Bus changer stock, I was heading you off at the pass in regards to you wondering about that.

Vanos01, I wasn't even addressing you, and I was not the one to buy the head unit or start this thread. But I'll answer your question. I am a clarion dealer and I can't even get 04 anymore (as it is gone from my supplier - the low low end is still around, but I don't think they made a low low 05 and that's why) and the 2005 XX55 line does not look at all the same, so it's not an easy default alternative.
If you get it from a dealer it's either gonna be leftovers, B-stock, a refurb, or an old demo. Item 3 is your most likely as everything else will probably be gone by now.
Same result with eBay - which is probably your best bet. Good luck, hope you find what suits you.

Yeah, I have the cheapest pro audio 05 model head unit. Doesn't have the amber display :(, but that was $100 more and I just couldn't afford it at the time. Other than the mimatched display, its not too bad. Took my mom an hour to realize it was even aftermarket (it is kinda obvious if you ask me).

I had heard a lot of bad things about Clarion, my friends have all broken, but they have been the cheapest of cheap and they now have units that sound like crap. The sound is excellent and the unit seemed well put together.

Only time will tell how this will last though, the CD loading mechanism is was failed on ym friends btw...another case in this thread...kind nervous about it now.

I was not addressing you in that last reply but was just emphasing that my original question I was asking the thread starter where he got it because as you stated and I stated it's last year model and not readily available on the market. I have seen some from those online audio/video places but am just a little weary (sp) about purchasing an item from them. Yes, the 05's have some silver in them which I don't particulary like. Thank you for the information though.

most online retailers are pretty decent from all my past experiences.

A good one on ebay you may want to try is "indo audio"

I have had many great purchases from them, and they can probably get that head for you at a great price.

Nice. I just switched my busted 745MP to the 845mp with MC.

From your pics it looks like it sits flush with the rest of your dash. On mine I have to use the surround because it sticks out about 1/4". I'm just using the universal aluminum mount (where you bend the tabs) to mount it. Is there some trick or are the pics just confusing me?
