What could this be?

I have a factory head unit on my factory HK stereo. It randomly turns itself off. It doesn't happen for any particular reason or at any particular time. When it shuts off the red led will turn on or flash. The system stays off for anywhere between one second to several minutes. It will behave this way for about a week and then works fine for the next month.

I'm clueless. I would appreciate any ideas. Thanks.

Buy a new one.

It's extremely common, your power supply is going out. And that radio is NOT worth fixing.
