It seems I'm getting conflicting information from different sources, so hopefully someone can clear this up for me?

Basically I'm wanting to know if it is possible to run an MB Quart RAA4200 in 3 channel mode, ch1 and 2 for my front components, and bridging ch3 and 4 for my subwoofer?

Currently the only thing I've purchased is a set of a/d/s/ 235is 5.25" components. I've chosen the MBQ amp because it meets exactly the 100W RMS requirement of these speakers.

If the setup will function as 3-channel, I'd also be grateful if anyone can lend some insight onto a good subwoofer choice? If this amp will be pushing 400W @4ohms to the sub (that's what I'm understanding from the spec sheets), what can handle it? 10" or 12"?

If the amp won't function this way, perhaps someone could offer an alternative amp choice (something that can shove near 100W to these components)? I'm trying to keep this around $300.

I've been looking at a/d/s/ 210a/4 (not sure if it can handle the power), MB Quart PWE 254 (looks awesome), and some of the JL Audio models. How does Image Dynamics compare price/sound quality wise to these? Are these good choices? Should I be looking at 12" models (given the sound is able to stay tight and precise)? I'd also like the keep the sub choice to around $150.

I've been mulling over countless threads here, and haven't read much in regards to the a/d/s/ and MBQ subs, so any input it appreciated.

Can't all 4ch amps essentially run as 2/3/4? I don't see why you couldn't run it as a 3ch amp.

I have a 12" MB Quart PWD 304 in very good condition if you want. It is 500w rms. Make me an offer if you want it.

So there isn't some inherent property of this amp to keep it from running 3channel?
I guess the only thing I could think that would cause a problem is if it didn't like bridging only one set of channels, instead of both front and rear. Thoughts?

That amplifier will be fine running in 3 channel mode. As imedina79 said, essentially all 4 channel amplifiers can be run this way. The instructions outline the appropriate wiring for bridging the rear channels.

As for 400 watts by 1 on those rear channels, don't count on that. I would use a very efficient woofer, something with an RMS around 200-250 watts.

Enjoy your new setup!
