Hey everyone my friend has two 2002's and is selling both of them b/c he is sick of them b/c they kept breaking and I am thinking of buying the blue '72 for $200. It doesn't run as it was ran with no oil pressure and he thinks a rod connector snapped or something. So my plan is to work on this whenever I free time and want to swap a rather cheap motor into it (M14 or some other engine so please give suggestions) and was wondering what your guys thoughts are on this, good idea or bad? I know it is going to take forever and may cost quite a bit and am looking for DIY's on 2002's and any info I can find, I searched but 2002 is too broad to come up with anything good. Please give me suggestions on motors that are a direct swap or ones that may be worth looking into that aren't too expensive (rules out the S14 ) and I don't care about the interior or paint b/c it will be a track/auto-x car. Sorry this is reposted in General Discussion b/c I forgot to post it here.

The s14 is pretty expensive. Have you considered doing an m20 swap? It can be pretty cost effective I think. YOu could probably do the whole swap for the cost of an s14 motor. Check out the thread I made about the M20 conversion

Theres alot of godd info in there.

If your using it for track/autocross and dont want to spend the $$ on a S14 I would stick with the original M10 engine. Over a period of time you could get all the hp you could want out of it plus its a simple engine to work on.
