Im liking the new classes Tom!

now THAT is the way to classify a show... I WISH the shows around here could get it broken out that well... we always end up with "import: stock" and "import:modified"

so my (in the works) BBK and SSK would dump me in with the hydrofoil-boys in civics.

Is that a two day or one day event? The National Grand Prix is in DC on July 19 and I already have tickets for that. This looks to be a pretty damn good gathering with proper categories like dasMafia said!

Stylin

its a 1 day event.

tdc
05-13-2002, 04:45 PM
It is a ONE-DAY event on JULY 20th. Hope you can make it up, ///M Roadster.

I'm glad you all appreciate the classes for the show.

We debated with a lot of different ways of going about it and decided this would best serve the BMW tuning community as a whole.

And for those who are mostly stock, we have quite the surprise for you folks!!

We're working on putting together a Pit Stop Prize Package for the winner of the Stock Category that will include prizes totalling nearly $1000!!!!!

Can I enter stock?? that seems like a better price than the modified classes..:D

If you haven't signed up yet, you better get a move on!

I dont think Im allowed to compete, but I will definetly be there! Man, my whole summer is leading up to this show....

although, considering most of my mods are BMW OE, I think I should be allowed to compete in the stock class :devillook

So how do you know how much is more than minor modifications? I'm just curious but I guess it's pretty much subjective by the judges. :dunno

Stylin
05-17-2002, 05:22 PM
yeah thats decided by the Tom most likely.. but most shows concider minor mods are intake, exhaust, wheels, suspension..

Yes, they certainly are. :laugh :laugh

I would hazard a guess that wheels, clears, and maybe one minor aesthetic mod would be ok for the stock competition. (I say I guess because I'm not the only one who is making up the rules - it is an entire board of judges that will ultimately determine which category a car will fall under)

The last day will be when all the slots are filled. I cannot make a guess as to when that could be. It could be next week or it could be next month.

Right now we are about 40% up to capacity so if you plan on showing, I would suggest registering sooner rather then later.

what is stock judged on??

tdc
06-07-2002, 12:24 PM
The judging will be based upon the category you are placed in. The following is merely a generalization and not to be construed as the judging process in its entirety:

AllGo - The judges will be looking for are NA engine modifications, FI modifications, level of suspension, chassis modifications, weight reduction, etc.

AllShow - Quality paint and fitment of body kits, any custom body work, wheels, and of course, originality.

Show&Go - A combination of the previous two. This will probably be one of the tougher categories in terms of competition since most people tend to do a little of both performance and looks.

Stock/Concours - Overall cleanliness and maintenance of the car. Quality of the paint, interior, engine bay, etc.

I.C.E.- The judging will emulate many qualities that are looked for at IASCA competitions. As this portion of the competition is sponsored by SIRIUS Satellite Radio, the judging will be intense. Come prepared or don't bother coming at all! :D

There will also be awards that are based more on subjective decisions...

BEST of SHOW - This is the vehicle that is agreed upon by the judges as being the car that simply rises above the rest.

BEST COUPE and BEST SEDAN- These will be the BMWs that are decided to be the best representation of that bodystyle.

Just a reminder, if you plan on showing you MUST REGISTER ONLINE. This is so that we can accurately keep a record of who is competing and allow for proper placement in the area given to us.

Lately, a lot of people have been asking similar questions regarding Bimmerfest East.

So, to make my life easier I am going to post the answers up here. :D

Q: What time does the show start?

A: The show begins at 12 Noon on Saturday July 20th. Trophy presentations will end by 6PM.

Q: Can we purchase tickets at the gate?

A: Yes, however ticket prices will increase to $20 at the door and you will NOT receive any raffle tickets. Tickets are STILL AVAILABLE ONLINE at the cost of only $15 and you will receive 2 FREE raffle tickets!

Q: I purchased my tickets online but I haven't received them yet. When can I expect them to arrive?

A: You will not receive any paper tickets in the mail. It is too easy to have them duplicated, therefore we are placing all the online ticket purchasers on a GUEST LIST. Please make sure to bring ID with you to the event. This is the only method of ensuring your entry.

Q: I am a show car. What time does Roll-In start?

A: All show registrants will be receiving an e-mail with detailed information regarding Roll-In times and set-up procedures. If you have not received an e-mail by July 6th, please contact register@bimmerfesteast.com

If anyone has additional questions, please post them up here. I will try to answer them as best as I can for you.

Thanks!!

where do all the cool people get to hang out at the show?

tdc
07-05-2002, 04:35 PM
We are happy to inform everyone that we have removed the distinction of ///M vehicles and non-///M vehicles. After receiving several e-mails and discussing it with the judges, it was agreed upon that we should not segregate the vehicles and that modifications are modifications regardless if it is on an ///M car or non-///M car.

And thanks to the fine folks over at FUZIONonline.com (http://www.fuziononline.com) we are proud to present some of the models that will be at Bimmerfest East 2002...
