I'm planning on doing a detail with 3M FI2 in a few weeks followed by aio, sg, p21s. my question is, do i use the 3M swirlmark remover before or after FI2, or do i just leave it out ?? i'm not sure if FI2 will get teh swirls out. someone with experience on these products please let me know

I think I would use the FI2 and evaluate, then use SMR if needed after. That's because SMR has fillers to hide the swirls. I think FI2 would remove the fillers.

If you use SMR before FI2, the FI2 will take out the fillers and it will have been a total waste.

David discourages against the use of SMR becuase it produces temprary results....And I'm right behind him on that. FI2 is a great product that should be used in place of SMR.

so if i use SMR and then FI2, i should notice a difference in the paint before and after FI2 ??

Agreed. If you're gonna put the effort into detailing the car why settle for "fake" results. Fillers and oils are just making it look better without actually fixing the problem. So when those fillers wash away, those ugly swirls are still there.
