I am finally getting around to putting my suspension on but need the use of some spring compressors. Does anyone know of any tool rental shops that have the compressors? Thanks.

I've heard Checkers or Autozone rents them out (for free).

free sorta. Usually you pay for the cost of the tool, and as long as your bring it back they give you your money back

Yes, confirmed. Autozone. As tested recently. They only charge you like $44, but refund upon return.

Jiber, your welcome on the info. For payment on the above advice, you will need to post before and after pics here. That is all.

Cam, I can help and you can do it here in the Lange Last Chance Garage. Airtools pwn your azz when doing such an install.

On E36 you can get aftermarket springs on and off without a spring compressor. You can compress it with your body weight and put the nut on.

I have put stock springs back on without a spring compressor. Not easy but doable.

If you are going to a sportier spring, I wouldn't worry about the compressor. Just tear it apart and do it by hand.

And on a E39 you can't. Compressors needed big time.

thank you.

No Problem. I am working on the rear shocks now, and hopefully the fronts tomorrow.
