I'm getting some Klasse and will be doing a full detail on my car in a few weeks and i was wondering what people on here prefer, using a machine or doing aio by hand ??

I voted PC. THe PC produces a really nice job with AIO. OTOH, AIO by hand is perfectly acceptable, especially if paint is in good condition already.

i have it posted on other threads.. i'm going to do 3M FI2 with machine then aio and i was guessing by hand would be same as by machine if, like you said, paint is well taken care of before aio. thanks

On my car (with a lot of minor swirls) I clayed, then used FI2 with a yellow cutting pad on the PC (speed five). Buffed that off by hand. Followed that by AIO using a white pad on the PC (speed 3) and buffing that off by hand. Awesome, awesome results. follow that up by SG applied by hand and removed by hand, and I have a mirror finish that I just can't get over.

Yeah AIO needs to be done with a PC to really level off any minor inperfections. I use speed 6.

AIO is a chemical polish. The higher speed as I understand it doesn't do much. It's a WOWO paint cleaner, not an abrasive polish. Am I right?

It's my understanding that the FI2 may leave some hazing that the AIO would remove. If you have a PC you should try it with AIO. It might make it easier to remove the haze.

Yes, AIO is a chemical paint cleaner as I understand it. But when you use it on a polishing pad on a PC, there is some mechanical polishing becuase the pad itself is slightly abrasive.

what is the speed at speed 5 and 3 on the PC ?
