This is a great deal -- significantly better than the last X brace offer. I would have waited if I knew it was coming. It is even better than the Pacific offer given the shipping (Pacific has a $15 minimum shipping charge and was selling the brace for $111 with hardware).

99 M3 and possibly cars built a year or even two earlier, have the nutserts installed from the factory. You still need four bolts for the cross member end, but those are standard metric parts and not hard to find in high grade like 8.8. At the rear end, you reuse the OEM tie bar bolts. Add locking or star washers if you like.

Yes, they emailed me a preshipping tracking number last week. As of Aug 3 it read: package data transmitted to FedEx, until last night when it was shipped out. It should be here by the 15th.

Doesn't look like anytime soon... I failed in locating a satisfactory deal on tires, because its really the tires that kill it for me. I'd be willing to drop 600-700 on some bitchin rims (CSL replicas or Vector VB-1's), but another 600-1000 on decent tires is a bit more than I'd like to end up spending on the package. Some day... maybe next summer.

Yeah, I need wheels baaaadly... it's basically the only thing I need to do to my car now, except for suspension (another equally/more expensive item). That and an exhaust -- those people selling the Remus exhausts backed out on me, saying none were left in stock despite numerous emails from his staff saying they were indeed ready to ship!!

Me, too. My card was charged on 8/2, and it's already 8/16. I actually haven't received any invoices for it in my email, which means I also don't have a tracking number or anything. I'm sure it'll get here eventually, but I wish I had the information I was supposed to get to track my order. And I hope it comes with the hardware it is supposed to have...

Has anyone recieved their X-brace yet? I got mine this Saturday after nearly 2 weeks, 9 business days after I paid. It didn't have any hardware and it almost looks like the bar was refurbished. There was deep scratches on the bottom of the bar that have been covered with paint and there is rust and dirt that is stuck in the tubing... I don't think they come new like that, not a big deal but I just wish I had the hardware so I could get this thing on my car :( .

We are receiving a large shipment of x-braces from BMW to satisfy the high demand and current wait list from our temporary special pricing of $99.00 + shipping.

Anyone outstanding from the first round of x-brace sales at this price will be shipped out ASAP. We over-exhausted our supplier and had to sporadically source a few if them, which is what caused the hold up. We apologize for any delays.

The price for the waitlist/group buy will be the same, however, the price will be going up when this shipment is exhausted. We should have most of the waitlisted/group buy braces in by next week. Six should be coming in the end of today or tomorrow. These come complete with all mounting hardware.

We have exactly 13 braces (approx. 10 waitlisted) left at this price as of 12:38pm easter time 8/16/05. Due to demand they will be sold in the order that payments are received, in other words first come first served.

These X-braces are new, OEM BMW X-braces, and come complete with mounting hardware ready to go.

Unfortunately for us and our customers, BMW’s aesthetic standards for metal work and underbody parts, are not the same as their standards for interior parts, with regards to the aesthetic condition of the parts that they deem acceptable to ship to dealers, or sell to customers directly.

For example, we have seen M5 clutch kits, that were quite frankly “rusty” and scratched, come directly from BMW for the exact same price charged to us, as ones that were not rusty, nor scratched. The mechanics installed these with no problems, and the performance was exactly the same, with no complaints what-so-ever from the customers that received the apparently “used” ones as opposed to the others. Needless to say, the fact that the metal work parts from BMW are not identical in appearance is slightly frustrating, however we trust their structural quality and the fact that BMW wouldn’t sell us a piece that was not up to their standards, regardless of aesthetics.

We have also seen the same type of things with some of the X-braces here and there. Rust can accumulate in long shipments over water, or with metal parts that have been laying around at a dealership, or hub, which are then called to be shipped from place to place in the country (or over from Europe) dependent on BMW’s logistics software’s decisions. Scratches are also, unfortunately, commonly found on metal work parts, as they are shipped in huge containers with fairly basic packing material, and can be prone to clang against each other.

BMW does not appear to deem these parts to warrant “perfect” aesthetic appearance, focusing instead on perfect structural and mechanical functionality.

In addition, core-charge parts, like alternators, etc. are re-sold by BMW as new, and still maintain their normal warranty, as long as they pass certain standard tests. Often core-charge type parts are greasy and definitely don’t look “new”.

Hopefully that clears up any questions that were remaining. Please call us with any other concerns and we’d be happy to take care of them.

If anyone, by chance, did not receive their mounting hardware, we’d be happy to send it out to you ASAP, or you can find it at your local dealer for cheap, or at a local hardware store to save time. Whatever your choice we apologize for the inconvenience!

Okay. I only just got it in last weekend. Install went pretty easily following the instructions on understeer.com.

One thing that surprised me: the bolts were a little tight to get into position due to, I'm assuming, the added rigidity of the x-brace. As a result, it took me a long time to realize I wasn't cross-threading anything, and it was okay to torque on them a little harder. Once I figured that out, the install was a piece of cake.

Results: Turn in is much improved. The front end transitions much faster now in chicanes.

Was it worth it? My vote is yes. Bang for the buck, this is huge.

I did the install a few weeks ago. The nut inserts were a pain in the A$$ to get in and one of them I couldn't get to seat all the way. But I put it on anyways with one of the bolts missing. I haven’t noticed a huge difference but I really haven’t pushed the car that hard since the install. I did notice a little more vibration/harshness through the ride though. Oh and it's saved my oil pan once already :D

Hey guys.

I just installed mine this past weekend. It took me about 20min to install. (my '97 already has the holes and nutshells pre-installed). I'm running on stock suspension and this thing is worth every penny. The chassis is noticeablely more rigid, turn-in quicker, and best of all, interior squeaks are virtually gone (e36 owners can relate).

Finally installed the X-brace along with my new exhaust. It's great! Like everyone says, the turn-in is very noticeably improved. VERY easy installation, all mounting hardware is included, plus I think one extra set of nutserts/bolts. At $99, it's a steal. Thanks KO! :)

Just got my x-brace in the mail today and am very satisfied but....
I got no mounting hardware with mine. Im pretty sure all the mounting hardware was supposed to be included but there is absolutly none to be found in my package. There were a few holes in the box where I guess it could have fallen out?? Can you send a new package of mounting hardware as I cannot mount the brace without it.

Just wanted to remove any doubts anyone may have about ordering from KO. After Fedex lost my hardware when it shipped with my X-brace, KO promptly sent me all new hardware in a pretty much bomb proof package. Hmm quick question:

I just climbed under my car to install the x-brace, and I'm confused about the nutsert part. I drill out the holes with a 7/16" drill bit, then loctite the nutserts themselves into the holes, then do I thread in the bolt/washer and turn it till the nutsert collapses? Thanks in advance.

Is the hardware the same as the hardware in the understeer DIY? I was about to put mine on until I realized I needed a 7/16" bit and this "nutsert tool". Do I need it with the hardware included Gregg? Thanks.

The hardware that KO gives you is the same as understeer, it all comes the same from BMW. The "nutsert tool" is something that DIYers invented to make putting the nutserts into the car alot easier. Its not a "tool" like a wrench is or something, but more of a shortcut. Actually I dont know how you would get those things in without it, but anyway you just have to go to the hardware store and make that little tool yourself.

So it seems that koperformance has been really slow in sending these things out and responding to people. I sent them the money late December and I sent them an email yesterday asking them if they have a tracking number or if they actually even sent it out yet.

Oh and I paid $22.50 to send it out to Cali, but I noticed that an earlier post said $20 for anywhere in the US.

Has anyone actually recieved their x-brace yet?

I paid 22.50 to get it shipped to az, but that really isnt a biggie...i believed i sent my payment...like a week ago or something like that. for this price i dont mind waiting a while longer, its not a "must have" or anything like that.
