Colin's call to Shumi for a duel (http://rally.racing-live.com/en/headlines/news/detail/020715123446.shtml)

This would be really funny to see. Considering how we are used to only seeing them in their dominating fields.

Colin is very good, but even with 25 wins he's still a little nutty. Either he wrecks or he wins. Schumacher, on the other hand, functions like a robot.

Let them duke it out in a couple of ITC VW Rabbits on radials at Sebring. :biglaughb

Better yet, put em in a pair Of AMC gremlins, and have a 50% on Buttonwillow, 50% on the dirt beside Buttonwillow.

How the f**k does Colin McRae challenge Schumi? He wins a couple in a row and thinks he's a great? He's not even leading the points in WRC. I'm not a big McRae fan, I don't dislike him, but after this comment I think he's an idiot. Is he trying to say he dominates FIA WRC like Schumi the chump does F1? If ANYONE has a right to pull some sh*t like this it's the Peugeot squad, namely Marcus Grunholm or Gilles Panizzi, the Tarmac Wizard himself.

And in regards to Williams not winning in F1 like they should...I put a lot of that blame on the tyre selection.

Go Skoda!:D

I think his challenge was more for fun than being arrogant.

From the article...
According to the BBC McRae has now called on Formula One's reigning champion, Michael Schumacher, to join him in a head-to-head clash that would raise money for charity. The clash that McRae has in mind would see him and the Ferrari ace race in a Formula One car and then after in a WRCar.

It's not a challenge in one venue. They'll be racing in F1 cars, then WRC cars. I'd love to see this. It would be interesting to see McRae finding the best line in a road course without drifting and Schumacher on a dirt road to see how good his car control really is.

I think Schumacher lost his edge in F1. You never saw Rubens drive this close to Schumacher in past seasons. This year Rubens has been out-driving Schumacher more than a few times after the first few races which Rubens had bad luck in.

Even if it does happen (and Bernie would never allow it) Schumi would hand Colins arse in a F1 car and vice versa. Although, surprisingly enough, Colin does has some (very little) seat time in a F1 car. Not sure if Shumi has thrashed around in gravel or not, but being a former go-kart champion could help.

I think Schumacher would eat SH** of a dirt/gravel/ice road.

Quick slightly off topic question --> If another driver were to drive Schumacher's car, like Fisichella or Button, how well would he do? I would love to see that .... It is not just about the driver.....

They call him the rainmaster.

It is about the driver.

Here's Schumacher's response when asked at the Thursday press conference:

I think for him it's easier for him to check out with Ford and Jaguar because they are all in one family and he would maybe get a touch what Formula One means. I have been interested in running a rally car in the past. I have to say that I'm less interested now because I'm not so much into it any more, but maybe one day when I have time enough I would like to do it in a safe place because I'm not interested in going through the forest and risking my life.

They call him the rainmaster.

This is true, but in dry conditions, any other driver would do just as well.

As far as the races for charity - MS, get off your rocking chair and get your ass out there. Maybe he is thinking McRae may challenge him. Who cares - it is for charity. Maybe his big head won't be able to fit into a WRC car..................... ;)

Remember that McRae lapped faster than Martin Brundel in a Jordan GP test in 1996. Colin is probably the best DRIVER in the world at the moment. Love him or hate him, the guy is a bloody missle.

I really think that rally driving with notes is a super specialized skill.

I do not think that other drivers can do as well as Michael in the dry.

HELLO!!! The "safe place" would be at the Race of Champions Rally at the Canary Islands every year. Ultimate side-by-side rally racing in a very controlled environment.Their website (http://www.imp.mc/ROC2000/roc2001/index.htm) .

BUT Shumi has a reputation to uphold and he won't make any sacrifices that might burst his bubblehead. Puss
