How often do you guys wax your cars? I just picked up my 97 m3/4 and I'm getting ready to do a big wash/clay/wax. I will be washing the car weekly since it's black :mad (even though I love the color, it just gets so dirty) I'm just wondering if i should wax it weekly as well, or every other week or what. What do you guys recommend? Thanks

add three coats of sealant about a week apart and you should be good for at the very least 4 months. klasse works nice but its tough to buff off in comparison to the natural wax

some claim you can go a year but i don't know about that. i hope you have a garage mine looks like crap after 4 days but when it clean... its like 'oh damn!'

some people will layer wax over their sealant too after its cured

So I should put sealant over the wax? Or the other way around? I do have a garage, but the other cars get priority. :eyecrazy However, I did buy an OEM cover for her, so hopefully that will help a little bit.

key ques. is how often you drive it, garaged car or not, weather in your hood, etc...that should be put into consideration

It really just depends how often you'd like to wax or seal it.

If you use something like Zaino or Klasse, you wouldn't *have* to wax it again for several months (4-6 easily).

If you use a carnauba wax, you probably have to wax it every 2-6 weeks.

Just make sure to do good prep work before you apply either: wash, claybar, wash, polish w/ abrasive and/or cleaner as necessary, and wax/seal.

I drive it just about everyday. Its the daily driver for me.

I picked up some meguiars gold class wash, and gold class wax. I wanted to clean/clay/wax her right away and didnt wanna wait for some klasse to be shipped. Is this adequate? I read the thread on detailing 101, and checked out everything that was suggested in there.

The clay bar I picked up was a mothers bar which came with the QD and they also threw in a little bottle of mothers wax. Which would be better until I can get some good klasse/zaino? The mothers is carnuba, but I dont believe the meguiars is.

Thanks for everyones help so far

Your Gold Class will be fine by itself or until you get something else. Just monitor its beading and slickness.

Alright, sounds good. Thanks for your help. I'm going to be doing it all tomorrow. Hopefully it comes out good. I'm going on vacation this weekend, so I will be sure to order some zaino/klasse when I get back. Which would you reccomend? probably zaino since thats more or less your handle huh? :stickoutt

My screen name is ZaneO = Zane Oliver = my name :)

I think Zaino sealant is easier to use than Klasse SG, but Klasse AIO is an awesome product.

I think personally you should determine your waxing needs by wetting a portion of the car and seeing how much it beads. After a while you will get an idea of what kind of beading you are looking for and know when it's time to re-wax.
