my friend told me of an idea that i might use and i wanted to check to see if anyone had done this before

the idea is:

tape off how far out you want the trim to go on the window, and then tape off how far you want the trim to go out on the body. then take a black silicon and lay it in to the desired hieght. keep a bowl of water by and dip ur fingers in to get them wet then run it across the layed silicon to flatten out nice and smooth. let it sit for a few hours so it hardens some and then pull the tape off. you dont want to pull the tape off too soon or else it will come off stringy and mess up the project.

I think I understand but this would be something that could be done if your current weather stripping is allowing water in from an unknown spot etc..? Right? :dunno
