To keep from having to replace my tranny just yet, I am going to try putting in a short shifter from understeer, uuc transmission mounts, new selector rod, bushings, etc all in an attempt to get it to stop popping out of first gear randomly. Doesn't happen all the time, just enough to be annoying . . . .
After doing a search and research I decided to try this first. What can it hurt, if I still have to replace the tranny, so be it. Anyone experience this random madness? And, while I was under there, looking around, time for a new guibo disc .............it never ends

I've been looking at both the Rogue and UUC ssk. Both are the very good short shift kits and after much research I've decided on Rogue's. Here is my reasoning:
1. Price -> [Rogue]
The Rogue Octane is $265 and the UUC Evo is $325.
2. Brand Loyalty and Prestige-> [UUC]
I have the UUC system U exhaust and love the quality of the product. Having another part from a highly recognized name is a plus, so is having more than one product by the same company. However, as rebuttle, the founder of Rogue (Ben Liaw) was an ex-UUC engineering so the quality and integrity of the product is very similiar.
3. Actual SSK -> [Rogue]
The Rogue SSK is more advanced and after reading through testimonials on here and reading up on the company's webpage the Rogue kit is better overall in terms of quality and performance. It isnt too notchy and is smooth for a SSK.
The Rogue wins 2 to 1
Price, Value and Performance outweighs Brand Loyalty to me in my book so thats my choice. I hope this was helpful to you.

Man, you are up early
or are you just coming in from a late night?
Thanks for the info . . .
went with the cheaper inferior generic no name ssk from understeer
what can I say, I'm cheap and with over 216,000 miles could not justify going any other way.
I've had an MZ3 shifter in both my M3's and actually prefer it to the Rogue/UUC bling shifters. They're a great way to go.

I have a evo2 shifter I got for $160 shipped. Folks say there is not much difference in feel from the evo2-evo3 and I saved $150+. Even came with all new bushings. I am happy with my shifter and I can't see any reason I would replace it with anything.

i am now considering the Rogue Octane SSK instead of the UUC EVO3, money is the determining factor. :(
