The annual BMW Club Concours Car show is this Sunday in Renton...approx 125 shiny Bimmers will be on the grass in Renton this Sunday the 24th from 9 till 4pm (at intersectioon of I 405 and Hwy 169 Maple Valley Highway)

E36 Drivers/BMW CCA Club Members...FREE Concours TROPHIES!

In reviewing this Sunday's Concours entries so far, I see that only one E36 has entered in the Judging for Class 06 Modern 3 Series. We award trophies for the top 3 in class. Right now that means two etched glass trophies would go in the trash.
As a reminder, you can bump up to the Judged class on Sunday Morning. You just need to pay the $10 difference and alert the registration table of the upgrade before 11 AM that morning.
So if you think your BMW is cleaning up nicely before the show, think about bumping up to be judged!
The form judges will use to review a judged car can be viewed on the club's web site, linked from the Concours Promotion.
Let me know if you have any questions.

I should have gone judged, but man the three winners had some clean cars! I would have had to spend some serious time on mine!

Who knows what those judges were thinking. A white 86 or 86 Euro M6, E28 I think it was, it didn't win anything yet was the cleanest car in that group by far. WTF?

Yeah, there was 2005 Z4 and a Z8 in my clas, hence I did not waste my $40.

Why not find out what judges are thinking by volunteering to judge at next year's Concours? Have you examined the Judging Form and the Judging Philosophy? A judged car can be awarded a maximum of 320 points (90 points for interior/trunk, 140 points for exterior, and 90 points for the engine compartment). The judged items are fairly well defined but much is left to the discretion and judgement of the judges. Maybe that's why they're called judges.
The E24 M6 you cite was indeed a very clean example of a Class #5 Early Big Car. As the Interior Judge for that Class I can tell you the competition was very close. I'm not privy to the overall Class #5 scores, but I'm confident there wasn't more than 10 points separating the first place car from the fouth place car and I'll bet Rick Brown's white E24 M6 came in fourth. BTW, I didn't hear Rick complaining about the outcome. Rick and his Dad have a shelf full of BMW CCA Concours trophies from past year's winning entries and I'm sure they'll be back in 2006 to try again.
See you at next year's Concours as a Judge?

definatley good points. Is there any weight at all on the age of the car? Seems odd that a 2 month old car is competing directly with e39's that were 8 years old.

As JIm says you should judge before you criticize...but I have judged so here goes...

First off be clear... nearly always the winner had the cleanest car...those judges will poke around into every nook and cranny that someone just walking by would never notice...that is why there are so few protests......I will immediately admit that the M5 owner kicked my *** when it came to cleanliness and I watched as the judges looked into areas where I had missed on my car and he had cleaned on the M5....

That being said the 760Li should never have been judged in my group!!!
I have 101,000 miles...his car was 2 months old ...that allows me 4 mileage points. 4 mileage points to offset 100,000 of roadwear
There is no way I could have beaten the 2 month old car even with my 4 mileage points...Any car less than 2 yrs old should be moved to a "new car class".

Given the rules currently the judges were right... the 2 month old 760iL was cleaner than my car...but we need to somehow recognize effort ...he didn't work a tenth of the time I did....but the judges did a good job...given the rules...

I did volunteer, I helped set up the tents everyone ate under and carried things out of Lance's van. I got there at 7:00 AM.

I didn't volunteer to judge, just for that reason. I didn't think I had the experience to be fair. I was not judging the judging, just asking what and why.

But I did see your gorgeous Imola Red M Coupe....I think you should have been in the judged class it was in excellent condition and very well kept. The 2 Coupes that took 2 of the trophies in the z class last year were a husband and wife each with coupes...black m coupe and a yellow Z3 coupe I think...now that is a family garage...

You mentioned getting rid of some curb rash on your wheels...do you recall who did the work ???

Yes, Brian and Michelle Terril, they have a pair of them. Also on the NW Coupe list is Steve Lervold, who has 2 M Coupes!!!! Black and Dark Green S52 and S54.

I did think about it, but I have never been there before and had no clue what to expect and wasn't sure about shelling out $40 for it.

The rash was on the rims that came on my car. I sold those on eBay. I replaced them with my current rims that are just plain silver paint.

Met lots of nice people Sunday.
Also talked to a co-workers son for 10 minutes before he realized, HEY, Your the guy at my moms work with the Red Coupe!!!! He wants one real bad but his dad is all about Audi and AWD.
