Why can't they just have the increased rpm all the time? Is that in the rules?

Yes, the rules limit the amount of "push to pass" time to usually around a minute or 90 seconds or so over the whole race. The boost is about 50 horsepower.

I like it becuase the time is limited and it rewards drivers that can manage their passing opportunities.

It's definitely achieved its goal of creating new unique overtaking oportunities in the races which is always good. Its also cool to see the different strategies of who uses it at the start and during the opening stints and who saves it until the last few laps.

I agree. I think it's a good thing. Makes the races more interesting. Wonder if F1 will adopt a similar system in the future?

Its a good thing for the fans allowing more passing and creating a new factor in the strategy.

I thinks its very cool. The driver who saves it by driving well is rewarded when he really needs the extra boost.
