the greater washington Mercedes Benz club is holding a DE on July 30 - 31 (Sat-Sun) at Summit Point's main track. The guy putting this together is Joe Wozney who is a friend of mine and a good coordinator and veteran of putting on a good, clean, and safe DE with lots of track time and good instruction for students.

here's a link: http://www.gws-mbca.org/

For those who have been to a mbca event know that they are a blast to run with...they offer 2 great days of track time with long sessions as well as lunch on both days from what I recall.

At this time Joe is looking for instructors and students...if your a student please sign up using the forms accesible online and if your an instructor you'll need to talk to Joe and submit your credentials to him along with the standard instructor sign up process ...contact information, sign up forms, and details can be found on the website from the above link...

thanks and look forward to seeing many of you guys out there :)

Hey Sunir, would I be able to attend to test the car out after some suspension changes? As you know I dont have a pass seat since my fire system is in the pass footwell. Would they give an exception since I have my BMWCCA comp license? Thanks

How many track sessions/day and what is their length?

Thanks.

Jared...you should be fine...if they ask anything, I'll talk to Joe and ask him to let you run in the advanced or instructor group if a fuss arises since you have the provisional comp license I don't think that will be a big deal to run without an instructor...just fill out the form and sign up as an advanced level student...

Neil...the event will be on Summit's main circuit. I don't know the exact schedule however this org always has a tremendous amount of track time.

If I didn't have the NEDiv...

BTW, Sunir--you've completely ruined me. I can't imagine running anything but Hoosierdaddies at the track ever again. :(

terp as much as I like your sense of humor, I am putting this post up as a favor to Joe who is trying to fill the event up and has asked me if I can pass the word along about this event. Can we please try to stay on topic on this thread for once in this ass clown of a forum. Why can't we just be serious, informative, and helpful once in a while on this forum??? :rolleyes

Not trying to go off topic -- and with (2) threads about this event on page 1 of this assclown forum, I'm sure it will fill up. ;)

I may be in town that weekend and if the weather is nice, I will drive my non-RACING car up to watch/bum rides with you guys.

Everyone sign up.

You can do one day or two days. For one day it's $190 compared to a FATT which is $220.

Not really sure why people don't venture off of bf.c but on the GWS-MB website that Sunir posted reads . . .

In addition to what Another Drew posted.

Rates for the event are only $350 for both days or $190 for one day. Summit Point’s own track days (Friday At The Track) are $225, so you save $35 for one day and $100 for two days! Registration at the track will be $385 for two days and $225 for one day. This event is limited to 100 drivers, to ensure we have small groups on the track. So, don’t wait!

Since I created the problem in the first place, I can do the driving involved in swapping parts.

Where are the pumps? Ive never paid enough attention to notice them. I guess my question should have been, will the pumps be open for the event?

Main paddock, in the middle, closer to the pits.

I am sure they will be open, but probably not all day. You can usually find out at the gate what the hours are.

Mike,

Go to Walmart and buy a 5 gallon gas tank to take with you. Fill it up before you go to the track. It comes in VERY handy and will save you quite a bit of money. Well, that's what us poor folk do anyway. :dunno

Race gas makes a HUGE difference in an Evo or STi.

Oh, I thought he was joking when he used the word, "race". :laugh

The only place that I know of that sell's higher test gas (greater than 94 octane) is the Sunoco gas station off Rt 40 (Close to Russell BMW). Many people who ride motorcycles go to that station. Not sure if they still carry it though. I want to say they had 97 Octane...but i am not positive. :(

Indeed it does but that isnt why I want to use it. My plan is to turn the boost down to 17-18 psi and run the race gas for saftey reasons because it burns cooler. Im not really that worried but I figure it cant hurt.

Yeah that isnt really even worth it to me. Im thinking at least 104 since I would be mixing it with 93.

Summit has race gas...pumps are open each event for the entirety (on a race weekend) or incremental periods (schools and lapping days)...pumps are 93 unleaded, 100 unleaded and then the leaded race fuel...main paddock, near the air hose station next to pitout

Mikey you should be fine...tons of Evo/STI guys track their cars and have no trouble whatsoever...just use the 100 unleaded if it makes you feel safer although it's probably overkill...

FWIW, I still run 93 pumpgas in the race car...just no point in extra octane in a prepared class motor with simple of the shelf shrick cams and chip...

Andy that is overkill man...it's a DE session, not the 24 hrs of LeMans...your not going to run your car that hard to harm it, your just wasting time and energy...just run normally and then do a cool down lap, take 'er in and park with the hood up or something...

Just run normally during the cool down lap?? :rolleyes Heeeelllloooo!! That's where I make most of my passes. :rolleyes

Like I said, it probably is overkill, but I don't mind. I like to let my brakes cool too. Besides, when I drive to the front gate, I like to floss mah shyt. :D
