Hey, does any one know a reputable place to get a windshield replaced? I've called a few places (Banner Auto Glass and Prestige Auto Glass) and it ranges from $300 and $180, respectively. Seems like a huge range and wondering what to look for? or does it really matter?

Thanks boys! ;)

Check Safelite. Did you call insurance? It may be covered.

So your car has a broken windshield and the clear coat is peeling off?

Like Eric said, check with your insurance company. They will frequently cover it.

Just checking. I thought for once people would be making fun of someone else's car (other than mine). :(

Here is a thread on the NCC forum that gives a couple places:

Thumbs up for Banner Glass. They replaced my windshield over the winter and did a first rate job. No whistling, unlike the last windshield replacement from another shop.

Safelite, they are cheap and they will come to you, which i think most places do but. Is your windshield ruined or jsut cracked a little? if its just cracked a little i wouldnt get a new one for a track day. that crack might get worse but Its extremely possible you will crack the new one without a cage at a track day seeing as your from MD im guessing Summit Point or VIR. both of which are very harsh on your car.

I was very happy with Banner also. I used the one in Silver Spring near Georgia, inside the beltway. They also unclogged my drains for free when I thought I needed new seals.

its a pretty nice crack that goes from my driver A pillar to almost the center of the winshield.....

i was looking over the Car Guys tech inspection sheet, and one of the criteria listed is that the glass must not have cracks.

i did the jefferson circuit a few months back with the corvette boys and they didn't care, but i'm sure car guys is different. i doubt i will get a cracked windshield this time around unless the person in front of me goes over a bunch of rocks. plus, i have full coverage, so insurance will probably take care of most of the cost of new glass.

Oh, there is a place off of Ritchie Hwy that is really good. They are across the street from the court house. Just down the street from Glen Burnie High School. You find out the rest. :rolleyes
