washing car and back trim piece that surrounds back window partially came off tried jamming it back on= no luck = any ideas???

The plastic fasteners get chalky and break. Or someone took them off before and did a poor job of installation. A couple drops of epoxy on the trim fasteners will hold it good. Don't over do it in case you ever have a need to get them off again..
