Any problems with the 2000 model X5 4.4? I might pick one up for $20k with 70k miles. It will be a daily driver.
My buddy had a '01 and i loved it...
Any difference between a 2000 or 2001?
Is there a way to change out the wood console and replace it with brushed aluminim (sp?)
What is the best after market website for an X5?
Any input is greatly appreciated!

The x5 is cool but my 3.0 only gets 16mpg at best. I think the 4.0 only gets 12mpg. anyway my x5 3.0 has plenty of power. About the dash I didn't like the wood at first but I really liked it after i had the car for a while. Think about getting a cool body kit for your x5 since everyone in NY now has one.

Get a 3.0 for a commuter as MY00-03 4.4s get crappy gas mileage. I avg about 16 in my 2002 4.4. I prefer the titanium trim as well, but haven't swapped it out yet. You can find on eBay or buy it from stealer.
BTW, visit X5world.com for the best website.

I disagree. I drive both the 3.0 & 4.4. Of course plenty of power is always a personal opinion. I thought the 3.0 for a x5 was underpowered for such a big car. It just didn't cut it for me. The 4.4 is more fitting. Presuming you don't have a lead foot, the 4.4 can get to close to the same mpg as the 3.0. I can say the same for my 540 & 530.

That's is not true for MY 2000 X5s. The fuel economy for the 3.0 is a few more MPG than the 4.4, but still both are far short of 20 mgh. If you really want an X5 for a commuter check out MY 2004+ as the fuel ecomony is more inline for both engine sizes.

of course the 3.0 will do better than the 4.4 in the mpg dept.... I am just saying in my experience, it wasn't a huge difference presuming there is no lead foot on the 4.4.
not sire what you mean by the "more inline for both dept.
