Alright guys 2 very quick questions:
Question 1) on idle my car seems to loose revs until it is about to stall and then the revs return to normal, this has happened to me twice in the past 2 days. Any suggestions????
Question 2) my cd in my car seems to cut out and cut back in again, this has taken place ever since i upgraded my nav computer to the mk 3. Again any suggestions????
By the way my car is a 1998 750il 122000 miles
thanking you in advance. :help

RE question 1, it could be any number of things but I would first look for a vacuum leak. No check engine/service engine soon light? Spray some carb cleaner around the PCV plates at the rear of your intake manifolds - had those fail before.
RE question 2, if it's happened ever since you went to MkIII, maybe it's the drive. Put the original back in and see what it does. Dirty disc? MkII -> MkIII shouldn't cause any drama so you are looking at loose connections, bad drive, bad disc I think.

Well guys, took it to the local BMW dealers, they hooked it up and found a fault with the camshaft positioning sensor. That would explain alot!!!! I had noticed it running like a slag lately BUT the nail in the coffin was the hunting idle problem...It's going to cost £100 to repair...I just hope it does the trick...Thanks for your help guys..will post soon to let you know what has happened. :redspot

Took it in today and got the offending part changed...Driving it back it felt a bit tighter and bit more punchier in the mid range. BUT in traffic, once gain, the revs dropped and the car almost stalled and then they picked up again...I'm thinking idle control valve??? Has anyone had this changed/know how much it will cost?? I'm gonna call the dealer's tomorrow to tell them the sensor replacement didnt do the trick....wish me luck...does anyone have the part number for the Idle control valve???
