View Full Version : Hyperfest
Thewiseguy 07-12-2005, 06:56 PM Im wondering who all is going to hyperfest. I was hoping to do a caravan up this weekend. The dates of the even are the 16th & 17th of july (this weekend). The event is at summit point which for those that dont know is only about 45-1hr away. Feel free to pm me and offer suggestions about times to meet up. We will be traveling north via I-270 so I would like to meet at starbucks as usual.
Edit: For those who are tracking their car, come by ExcluService in Rockville for your tech inspection. We are located one street over from starbucks on Parklawn drive.
I am most likely going on Sat.
I'll be coming from Columbia though. I can try to meet up with you guys at the top of 270. :dunno
What time are you planning to leave Bethesda/Rockville?
magnetic1 07-12-2005, 10:35 PM Im probably going to head up early Sat morning...
Biggins 07-13-2005, 12:00 AM I can't go now :(. Work + Family reunion on Saturday, but I MIGHT go Saturday morning MAYBE.
I was going to do the PTG thing Sunday at Summit, but decided to do the Philly SCCA autoX instead.
96technoM3 07-13-2005, 07:12 AM I think I may go on Saturday.
Thewiseguy 07-13-2005, 07:27 AM What time do you guys want to meet up on sat morning.

I have to be there by 7AM or earlier on Sat morning... I'd be coming onto 270 right around 28.
dmwhite 07-13-2005, 09:23 AM Im probably going to head up early Sat morning...
first race?
get there early since you'll have to get your annual tech!
good luck!!!
Nihilation 07-13-2005, 11:58 AM I'll probably be there with the RRT crew.
Mad Dog 20/20 07-13-2005, 01:04 PM I'm going. Don't know which day(s) yet. I may take the Trooper if I have 2 or more folks going with me. The Troop is also fun for driving to different vantage points around the track via the mud-hole ridden dirt roads. :D
See you guys there.
CAUTION:
The W.Va cops do sometimes set-up speed traps on Summit HPDE days. With Hyperfest being perhaps the biggest event of the year, I'd take it easy on my way to Summit if I were you . . .
Here is the schedule for the ones that were wondering what's going on.

I will be heading up on Friday.
Mad Dog 20/20 07-14-2005, 12:17 PM Wow. They have the HPDE's listed under the "NASA Road Racing" column. Not the best idea for auto insurance coverage issues in the event of a mishap. :rolleyes
Have fun guys! I'll be with Northern Ohio Chapter at Nelson Ledges.

No shit. And with the drifters coming, the moron quotient is going to be extraordinary.

And "that's" not a generalization ;)
Didn't someone here post something recently about a picture re: oversteer? :stickoutt

Good time, but it was stinkin HOT and very humid. Got to see the HPDE and the club racing. There was a killer 2002 that handed this S4 his azz.
Also saw the drift practice-pretty cool looking. The Caddy CTS-V was bad azz.
Who else went yesterday? I went with Andy and we caught up with the Wonger, Nick, Greg, Garrett and Sunir
Yeah, I had fun too. I wish we could've stayed longer but it was just WAAAAY too hot. :( I wanted to see the actual drift contest. Oh well. My arms and face are still pretty red.
Yeah, that CTS-V was pretty cool during the drift practice. Being able to drift smooothly takes TREMENDOUS car control skills. The driver of the CTS-V had some skillZ. Not to mention that it sounded badazz. Cadillac has come out with some pretty cool cars.
The actual race was cool too. The S4 started the race with atleast 5-6 car lengths I believe. The driver of the orange 2002 displayed some pretty impressive driving skills to catch up, pass, and maintain the lead until the end of the race. :buttrock
The HPDE had some pretty cool cars too. Many different kinds. Vettes, Hondas, 3-4 Evo's, many Type R's, Porsches, one 350Z, and a Lotus Elise. Jed and I witnessed the Elise spinout in the carousel. He got VERY lucky he didn't total that car.
Does anyone know the story behind te totalled blue Z06?? The front part of the frame was bent UP!!
Mad Dog 20/20 07-17-2005, 03:46 PM It was great seeing you guys.
Yo, you know who piloted the Caddy, right?
DADO, yo. :buttrock
Gotta give him props. I saw part of the drift comp. Of what I saw, he had the best run. That car just sounds incredible, too.
I actually enjoyed the drift comp - didn't think I would.

The dude is a good driver-you gotta give props where props are due. I rode with him during an autox and the guy has very good car control skills.
Yeah, that was my first drift competition and I liked it. I want to give things a try first before I judge it and not just say shyt like "oh, drifting is ghey." I tell you what it does take skill-I know I sure as hell can't do what they can do-not on purpose anyway.
magnetic1 07-17-2005, 07:16 PM you guys left too early to see all the girls flashing their bewbies!!! :boobies

:(
Wait a second... I thought you said you were heading back home when you dropped us off. WTF!!!
First it was denying me the hot neighbor and now it's this!!! :mad

glad you did, hope to see you out there more often then :)
Next event is July 23rd at Fedex Field. I will be driving the caddy once again. Needs some work done on it because the stock suspension and foot brake is just not cutting it :( Other then that the car is awesome.

Like that dude in the E30 M3 who did a 360....and held it on the track? :laugh I doubt he did it on purpose, but it looked cool. :buttrock

:rolleyes That isn't the fastest way around a corner.
Ahhhhhh...saying that made me feel like a racecar driver.
