View Full Version : Videos: 350Z, Supercharged 350Z, Modd'd Skyline, Charged M3's, etc
All this talk of 350Z's beating M3's got me to post these videos.
Here's a 325 vs a stock 350Z:
http://s29.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3GL67MEZEVO612LG80ACKGR8KG
Z runs 15.0 @ 151km/h (94.4 mph)
Here's a stock Subaru WRX Sti vs same 350Z:
http://s33.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1UZ6EPNWF4IKX0IYC6OPH9D15B
Z again runs 15.0 @ 151km/h (94.4mph)
Here's a Ford Escort Cosworth vs a Supercharged 350Z:
http://s23.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1YJNTE1FGOL8P20NKQDIDQNEEY
S/C Z runs 13.9 @ 173 km/h (108mph). Supercharger makes it a second quicker & traps 14mph higher.
Now here's an M-coupe supercharged by the same tuner that supercharged the Z.
http://s30.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=1QJFXUBW95MOY0I3LMEO6SEDE8
He runs 13.1 @ 188km/h (117.5mph). He actually ran 12.8 on the next run. If you correct that down t sea-level that's the equivalent of an 11.9 @ 125km/h. But all that matters is that these were done on the same track at the same day.
And just for fun, here's a charged E36 M3 vs a modified Nissan SKyline:
http://s29.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=0Q7A4TJN2FNJV3UY8I8QGFLMEW
Corrected for sea-level that E36 M3 runs 11's.
I have run there with a stock E46 M3 & run 13.7. In fact I raced the supercharged 350Z & beat him twice. Wish I had that on video. I am over a second quicker than a stock 350Z, as are most of the other M3's that run there.
BimmerMan20 07-12-2005, 06:39 PM will check it out when i get home.. :D
Forgot to add, Wesbank Raceway is 5500ft above sea-level or a mile high.
///M4life 07-12-2005, 06:54 PM damn those guys have horrible problems drag racing
coolcarlski 07-12-2005, 07:07 PM damn those guys have horrible problems drag racingWhat do you mean? :confused
///M4life 07-12-2005, 07:15 PM maybe its me but a supecharged 350z running a 15second is kinda horrible as seeing as i run a 13.98 at 100mph. maybe its the hight thing i didnt think about that
Der Spielführer 07-12-2005, 07:16 PM This one is done. Any reposting of this crap, or rehashing of this crap in other threads = Time Out for whoever does it.
:cool
///M4life 07-12-2005, 07:18 PM hope thats not me i didnt do anything wrong yet. i do mean yet though:)
indicaM3 07-12-2005, 07:50 PM how come in the sc'd e36 m3 vs skyline run, it looks like the m3 is edging him, but the timer gives the skyline about a one-tenth of a sec. edge? optical illusion?
giterdone 07-12-2005, 08:41 PM how come in the sc'd e36 m3 vs skyline run, it looks like the m3 is edging him, but the timer gives the skyline about a one-tenth of a sec. edge? optical illusion?
optical illusion, or maybe they're doing that bracket thing or whatever?
Also, it could be where, the timer doesn't start until the car cross the line. Like when carlski went to the drag strip a bit ago. He raced I think a vette. He beat the vette down the strip, but the vette had a "faster time" because the guy was slow as hell at reacting.

The M3 probably had a quicker reaction time and left the line before the skyline. The timer starts when you cross the starting line.
TheMuchacho 07-12-2005, 09:01 PM haahah, i love how well the 325 did! thanks for posting and great times youve acheived as well! I bet it went down a little different on that run with the benz in your sig :devillook
hc1001 07-12-2005, 09:05 PM thanks for sharing.
chewietobbacca 07-12-2005, 10:50 PM Not to take anything away but seriously those must be some of the worst 350Z times ever... almost everywhere rates em at being low 14's breaking 13's with good drivers
In truth you're probably a good driver and he's a terrible driver though

kartman2 07-13-2005, 05:06 AM After all the c***** about Z's on this forum it's good to see one put
down.
giterdone 07-13-2005, 07:56 AM it seems we have found a replacement for Audi in the eternal battle against the bimmers. :)
nomoreM3 07-13-2005, 10:45 AM good driver in that S/C E36 M... :buttrock
Volfinator 07-13-2005, 11:24 AM 350z = teh lose
ridebmw 07-13-2005, 02:20 PM the driver sucked im not saying a Z would beat an e46 m3 cause he wouldnt but he should be running lower times i dont care how high that track is
Jory320 07-13-2005, 03:20 PM Is there any facts about how height above sea level can effect 1/4 mile times?? After watching those videos, its seems height ASL has a rather large impact... J/W
EOSphoto 07-13-2005, 03:23 PM how come in the sc'd e36 m3 vs skyline run, it looks like the m3 is edging him, but the timer gives the skyline about a one-tenth of a sec. edge? optical illusion?
Because the skyline got a better launch and your 60 foot affects your et a lot more than the topend. The M3 could trap higher and technically pass him at the end but take more time overall to pass the line.
Also those times aren't bad at all for 1 mile above sea level, elevation that high usually makes your 1/4 miles HORRIBLE. Your car gets a lot less air/oxygen so you lose a bunch of power. Just look at dyno charts for people way up in colorado etc.
nomoreM3 07-13-2005, 03:43 PM air gets less dense the higher you go...less dense air going through the MAF = less fuel = less power
also in the M vs GTR run...look at the view angle...your perception is skewed because of the angle...much like how short actors may appear taller than reality in movies, because of the camera angle
that's why a lot of runners like to train in higher elevations...it makes their breathing more efficient when they're closer to sea-level...just like a car
http://www.gnttype.org/techarea/misc/altitude.html
for 5500ft, multiply 1/4 mile ET by .9315.
FrankW 07-13-2005, 04:49 PM how is this a kill story??
and for those who cares how did m&m get 13 flat...100/98 octane RACE FUEL MIX. :rolleyes
coolcarlski 07-14-2005, 12:28 AM how is this a kill story??
and for those who cares how did m&m get 13 flat...100/98 octane RACE FUEL MIX. :rolleyesAfter modding and racing my E36 M332i ,I grudgingly ;) can believe M&M that it's very possible on that octane fuel to run 13.0 flat with a good driver in a E46 M3!My car posted a 13.65 @102 on a bad launch, street radials. It also puts out a lil less wheel hp than a stck E46M3.There have been some here on street radials and less hp that have posted 13.4 and 13.5's

but would you believe it if it was run on pump gas in terms of the definition STOCK?
ugaroadster 07-14-2005, 01:19 AM Stock E46 M3's have been into the 12's.. just not easy to do.
FrankW 07-14-2005, 01:24 AM exactly, yet m&m is claiming like it it's easy when in fact he had mods on the car.
Rave fuel is a mod?
OK then the car was modd'd with race fuel when I ran 13.0 @ 108. You happy now?
I don't think the fuel made any difference anyway. Maybe added 0.5mph to the trap.
SilverStreak 07-14-2005, 08:03 AM Not a kill story, and dangerously close to reposting old BS...
