What is your nomination for the absoulute WORST freeway?

Mine is the 91. Unlike most freeways that simply have "a bad stretch" the whole 91 is ass all of the time. I have only been on that freeway once and not experianced traffic, and that was going west through Riverside at 10 at night. The Fast Track has too few openings for it to be worth wile. Just forget about the 91 on any evening of the week, especially Friday.

I am not a fan of the 405 from the valley to Santa Monica, although i hear it sucks even past SM.

HAHA, I also, have been in traffic on the 101 in the middle of the night.

I dont know which one is worse. Luckily, I can fly down my 118 almost all of the time.

I have to agree with the 5 freeway in between 710 and the 605... roads are so messed up, I bet people get in accidents just dodging the pot holes.

91 eastbound after anaheim hills @ 5:20pm on a weekday. Even the 405 N/S moves fast compartively.

I don't know how ppl subject themselves to such torture.....(or buy houses out there with jobs in LA/OC that necessitate that commute).

Pure pure pure insanity. Low quality of life.

as far as traffic goes, the 101 and the 110, which are the ones I drive mostly, the 5 is not that bad, at least in my area. Then if you're refering to the worst freeway = pot holes, the 710

10. Only freeway I've experienced where some spots are guaranteed to be jammed for several miles 24/7.

I killed a tire on one in the interchanged. Luckily, I was able to drive home on it. Little girl changing a tire @ 12:30 AM in East LA doesnt' sound like a very good situation.

The 5 is ass after Beach up until the 110. Other then that, it is a fine freeway.

The 15N stretch from Mira Mesa to Escondido.

Took me 2 hrs to get to Escondido from my house one time, and I got to Mira Mesa in 20 minutes!

The 10 FWY is just disgusting.

The 15N stretch from Mira Mesa to Escondido.

I will also put a vote in for this section.

Has anyone else noticed how bad the traffic is getting on the 5N through Irvine? I don't remember it being as bad as it has become in the past few months.

BTW, if we look at the other end of the spectrum, is there really such thing as a "good" SoCal freeway.

The-Great-328ic

Yes ^ the 118 is usually free from traffic, the 210 from the 118 to the 710 is good too.

lol, not if you're in the carpool, I love seeing the faces of people (im pretty much always the passenger) stuck in traffic in the 405 while my brother is doing 65 in the carpool lane, it's hillarious

Irvine is a hub, it gets traffic. That whole area should be avoided at 5, traffic moves both directions. But in whole, the quality of OC freeways are MUCH better than LA or Riverside has to offer. Smoother, wider, and generally, with less traffic.

Worst Freeway? They are all horrible!!!!

91? 22? 10? 5? 101? 405?

South Cali Freeways just suck if it is not one thing it is another.

How about this Cali best freeways:

22 is pretty bad during rush hour. It gets really bad going eastbound towards the orange crush. It is so bad, that they are extending the freeway, I think making it 1 lane wider on each side.

I did the 22-57 commute during rush hour 1 time, and it took me 1 hour and 30 minutes to drive 17 miles. Horrendous.

where the 405 and 55 meet is unbelievably horrible. The onramp alone on the 405-55N will take about 15-20 minutes until you actually hit the 55N during rush hour.

Move to nor cal. :D Especially to south *San Jose* where the worst traffic you will ever experiance is on the 680, 101, or 85 which only takes about about 15-30 mins. (if you dont use carpool). :D

405 NORTH SOUTH WEST EAST WEST FRONT BACK AND SIDE TO SIDE

i believe there is alot of truth when they call it the worst freeway IN THE WORLD. i ditched two job interviews in the middle my 405 S commute, coming from the valley 118. i decided nothing is worth doing that everyday, two times. when i had a stick every move forward would be in 1st gear, for about a hour. there wasnt even short bursts of speed that you give you some hope just a slow road of despair. the design is fucked up and its mad crowded because there is not really an alternate route unless you take sepulveda, which is also packed.

i lived up there for a few months. trust me, so cal is so, so, so much worse. the only bad thing about norcal's bay area is the dang toll bridges which you have to take or drive 30 minutes around.

lets see i take the 105 - 110 -91 - 57 - 60 - 215 and i leave at 2. i dont get home until 4:30. there is no such thing as rush hour in socal. all day long is rush hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OC: 405S between 6am-9am; 405N 3pm-730pm
22E always busy from Beach Blvd up until the City Drive (construction speed limit is 55mph)
22W from 55N/S and 57S to Harbor Blvd
55N from Newport Blvd until Edinger Ave
5N/S South is not that bad until the 55S interchange, North all the way up until you hit the 91
91E is bad from the 91/55N interchange right from the start of the FT, from then on not too bad
57N horrible from Brea/Diamond Bar area until the 60 E/W interchange
LA: 605N is shitty from the 91 interchange to either pico rivera or past the 5 freeway
60E is bad from the 605 until 7th ave or azusa ave
101N downtown LA
710/10 Interchange (East LA I think)
10E Santa Monica/Venice
909/951: 91E Obvious
15S is not that bad until temecula, then it starts to get pretty bad coz of 3 lanes.

these are based upon all of the areas that I have been to myself.

91 west of the 57. The 101 is a given to be bad anytime. Its a highway I just can't comprehend. Sunday, 2 o'clock I was in stopped traffic for, oh, an hour taking my friend home one day. How can it be the only highway to Thousand Oaks/West Lake Village?
