I am sorry, but I use to give him praise and admiration.

Now I call to get a quote on how much it would cost me to install rotors and pads, and this Jonathan guy who works there is like "Yea we don't install your own parts anymore, part of the way we now make money is buying the parts"

I can understand if that has ALWAYS been his position, but it hasn't, he used to do stuff all the time if you brought your own parts. Can't he still make money charging his labor rate?

Bottome line if you want to use your own parts go elsewhere!

Dude, Bill is the man! I would say I trust him more than any other BMW Tech in the Bay. He really knows his shit and he's just a cool guy, building/racing tricked bimmers and all that. He always goes above and beyond to explain certain things or give you little money saving tips/tricks that he picked up through racing. Maybe you caught him on a bad day or he has just been put in a position to have to make a big business change. I know he is trying to promote the fact that he can get any OEM part same day and way cheaper than the steeler. Dont really know man, chill.

-Sean B.

Edit: Oh yea, and what are you trying to get installed. I might be able to schedule in some wrench time for a few bucks...I'm a lot cheaper than what Bill would charge.

What can I say im broke and I have many mods to buy this summer

And how is it under cutting, sounds like Bill already denied his ass so I figured I would offer my services to a fellow local member.

Oops I skipped over that bit of info that its a brake swap.. That is a very easy DIY. Should not take more than an hour.

Hey Sean, have you done a whole brake job before, including brake flush?

How much would you want money wise?

Also, are you in Santa Barbara or in Blackpoint?

I have never done it on an E46 but I did do a complete job on my old '95 M3.. I cant imagine it being too different. From what I remember it was really straight forward and relatively fast. A Bentley is a plus. I am in Blackpoint. If I did have the time I would say my rate would be $30-40/hr. Its not too easy to get anytime out of the office though..Evenings are prime.

Soon, I will be upgrading the brakes on my 93' 325i which we just finished putting a built 3.2L engine into. Might be a good time to do a few cars.. Bay Area Brake Fest anyone?

-Let me know

Also check this out..Some good info about your needed work..
