Anyone have experience importing a plain Euro spec car - not an Evo to the US?

What needs to be done and at what cost?

Thanks,

Jeff

I've read some lengthy articles about bringing a car over from Europe, and it entails a lot of work! It also is pretty expensive to do it, after everything was done.

I assume you are talking about bringing over an E30 M3. Do you own the car allready, or are you thinking about buying one and shipping it?

I think one of the biggest hassles would be converting it to US spec (DOT). You would need to get some cats on there, you would need to change the instrument cluster, that is all I can really think of. Then I've heard registering it and getting the car to pass smog and emissions is a pain.

If you are going to buy a car, I would say that it doesn't seem to be worth it, you would probably end up paying more money, than buying a US M3. If you allready own the car, I would look for more responses (I'll copy this to the General Discussions Forum) to see what is the best route to go.
