Anyone know of the cheapest store online for the proper fuel pumps for the K-Jet series of 320i? I have spotted BMP as the cheapest for Bosch, but I have heard bad things on here about them. I am in Canada and need a fuel pump bad as after all my engine troubles, the fuel pump(s) died. I'm thinking that was the cause of my engine problem partially as well. I will find out tonight what the extent of the repair is. Anyone have a procedure of what to check? I have checked the fuse and checked the connection at the fuel distributor for fuel and no fuel comes out, but there is power to the fuel pump as far as I can tell. Thanks a bunch.

So I went back to my car hours later and tried starting it and no luck. So I figured that something was wrong with the fuel pump underneath. Check the voltage and it's fine. So I jack the car up cuz I'm gonna need to take the thing out as well as the other in tank. I start the car while jacked up (I know it's not very safe but I wasn't under it and it was on jack stands) and the things starts up and runs. So I jack it down and it runs still. Shut it off and start it again. Runs fine. Could it be that the fuel pump either inside or out is worn out and only gives out at high temp when running continuously. I'm going to get a couple pumps from the wrecker yard for sure, but it's just quirky. The car wouldn't start on level ground, but as soon as it's jacked, it runs....

Hey, just curious how you checked the voltage, I am dealing with some similar problems. In my case I had the back up on stands as well and checked the voltage across the pump with it running (that got a touch stinky in the garage even for the two minutes involved, but hey, I have a fan) at any rate the voltage drop across the pump from one terminal to the other was just shy of averaging 12 volts. Nonetheless I am running way below proper fuel pressure. I would not mind a reasonable source for a fuel pump either if any-one knows...

My problem turned out to be a really plugged fuel filter as far as I can tell. I changed mine and my car runs alot better now. I just hope the pumps are good for now. The reading on my pump is good.

I'm hoping for the same solution here ($20.00 fuel filter being a lot more economical than a $200.00 fuel pump and all) I was just curious if you had measured your voltage differently than I did. (Electrical diagnosis is not exactly my forte). But you are giving me hope... I don't know how the filter would plug up that badly over the course of four years, but then again I let my little sister have the car for three of those so who can say. Glad to hear that that cleared up your problems. I'm just hoping that when I put it all back together I don't still have little air bubbles traveling up injector line #1. (At that point I would have to start looking at the fuel distributor, at $1200 for that part I would simply have to cut my losses :( )

Fuel distributors are rare to fail, so just get on off a wrecked car. I just measured the voltage across the terminals of the coil, then shut power off and checked the resistance across the ground terminal and actual ground of the car. Everything was in spec, so I was good. Car runs wayyyyy better with the fuel filter renewed.
