View Full Version : DFW: Good Fireworks & Venues
Bimmerista 07-03-2005, 11:47 PM I just got back from Addison's Kaboom Town & all that I can say is that it truly sucked!!! We waited until about 9:45 PM for it to begin & by 10:00 PM, we got the finale.
Since we get a 2nd chance on Monday, are there any good venues in the area that display good fireworks?? I'm thinking maybe in the Carrollton, Coppell, Grapevine (Gaylord Texan?), Las Colinas/Irving, Plano, Lewisville area.
thurst0509 07-04-2005, 12:20 AM I just got back from Kaboom Town too... I agree that it wasn't a very good show. It seems like it's certainly been better in the past. Traffic getting out of that place was ridiculous!! Luckily we were in a good parking spot on Arapaho just east of the tollway and were able to hop right on the tollway without much fuss. A lot of people weren't quite so lucky.
Garland usually does a pretty good show. I've been to it a few times in the past and enjoyed it. Of course Addison's is usually a lot better so you can never quite know based on the year before... My wife says there's a show in Denton this year at the UNT stadium which is supposed to be pretty good. I think there's supposed to be a decent show up in Frisco too but I haven't been up there for one yet.
SecretAznSauce 07-04-2005, 12:23 AM we'll be hosting our own, chinese people + lake house + fireworks :evil2 :evil2

Racerhoze 07-04-2005, 02:06 AM I bet the show on grapevine lake will be good, mainly because the gaylord is probably dumping a ton of money into it.... I saw the show at southlake town center tonight and it was average...

stuntride 07-05-2005, 03:52 PM i went to my lakehouse, lake kiowa, and was in the lake with the cooler in the tubs just drinking in the middle of the canal and awsum display. it was like kaboom town's finale but for 15-20 mins, it was awsum then we shot our own off after that. cops came twice and we didnt get in trouble. couple of us got hit by bottle rockets tho

Michael-Dallas 07-05-2005, 06:45 PM Las Colinas' fireworks show was badass. Especially since my office is about a block away from Williams Square. :D
Michael.
Mr Magoo 07-05-2005, 09:40 PM Believe it or not Frisco wasn't bad at all......I just moved to a apartment in north plano and we grabed some lawn chairs and sat in a field across the driveway and watched the whole show. Definitely beats sitting in Addison traffic..... :beer
Greg S 07-07-2005, 05:19 PM Possum Kingdom's wasnt bad. It was better last year. Then we shot of some bottle rockets afterwards, nothing spectacular. You cant beat 12 bottle rockets for $.69
