on my way home last night i saw and older 633csi weaving around acouple cars on the road. It was at like 4am, so there wasnt much traffic. I kept pace with him, as i was in a fast driving mood. so we get to a red light just before a 1/2 mile strip of road parallel to a big park. I didnt think he was going to rip this old car, so i just take off on the green alittle more aggressive than normal, but nothing too crazy. He does the same, so we come out even after a mild takeoff. We then proceed to hit it once we are going 20 kmph. i redline through each gear till fourth, consistantly gaining half a car length in each gear. we go till about 140 kms, where i had about 2-3 cars on him. He looked alittle pissed at the next light.

What are the specs on these cars? I thought they were alittle more powerful...

They are slow. 182 hp in a 3500 lb car. 0 - 60 in @ 8 seconds.

Keep in mind that the 633's are noticeably slower than the 635's and the vast majority of E24's were sold with 4spd ZF slushboxes -- which were preferred by the over-40 market these midlife grand touring coupes were aimed at.

That said, even expertly shifted, a 5spd 635CSi will rarely go 0-60 in less than 6.7secs.

an M6 woulda been a different story. but yeah if i remember correctly aren't the 635's and 633 pretty underpowered? they're pretty damn heavy.....hell my M6 feels underpowered for its weight.
