Basic rundown of my car:

E46 with e36 3.2 dropped in, 3.46 gears, straight race pipe all the way through, jc chipped, intake, ssk, upgraded clutch, and a few other little mods 3200 lbs

Car looked to be a stock z28 with pipes.

Off a 2nd gear really slow speed roll, I was leading, he was pulling side by side, at the top of 2nd, shifted to 3rd and i just kept pulling, walked a few car lengths

Tried again off the line and I was side to side for a bit, but pulled on him again in about 3rd. I thought these cars were much faster? Donno if it was manual or auto

oops hehe i pulled on him

we were side by side on some parts, but i ended up pulling away quite a bit

i have a little bit of weight reduction as well, no carpet tubs, kevlar race seats, no spare etc probably a total reduction of like 230 lbs or so over stock

maybe the z28 was auto?

What Z28? An LS1 should handle you reasonably well, but you never know. Nice kill, regardless!

That could easily be a LT-1 Z28.

Which means what? [power, etc.]

Nice kill and nice ride! ;)

Love the R1, and the Bimmer of course.

LT1's tend to dyno around 250-260 rwhp, where the LS1's were always around 300-310 rwhp, bone stock, both were under-rated at 275-285 hp (LT1) and 310-325 hp (LS1)...

The real difference between the 2 was top end, the LS1 pulls all the way to redline, where the LT1 had a tendency to run out of breath up top...

Thanks for the info Dave. Obviously a BIG differnce in those engines.

So if Z28 he ran against was a LT1 auto ... definately could explain the outcome BluE46 had. I'm fairly sure the Z28 is a bit heavier than his lightened e46.

Again ... nice run. :buttrock

Maybe, the Z28's were not "heavy cars" by any means. I used to get my 95 Z28 (LT1) to 13.7-13.9's regularly. Where the LS1 cars normally are ow 13's, and some even in the 12's off the showroom floor/bone stock...

Top end is all relaltive..the LT1 has fine top-end, just not as good as the LS1.

The Supra owner in this thread has better top-end than my LS1, but that does not mean my car does not pull all the way to redline.

Anywho, good kill!

kinda like S52 and S54 :shifty the S52 actually loses hp to redine

and i agree top end is relative, but you have to be able to compare to point out the differences.

You do realize that peak power isn't everything and its how much you put to the rear wheels and for how long you do it? If you build a car to shift when it reaches peak power it will be slower than one that doesn't.

yes, I do realize that as I say that all the time in this forum.

look at my mod list, all those mods have a purpose, those power mods make the power alot better, but not al reflected in my dyno numbers, but the dyno plots are beautiful for how they deliver the power

i used to lose power heading to redline, now i build power
