About three weeks ago I ordered a helmet from Bell Helmets that was on sale. I paid for it, and a few days later I got a call from them informing me that they were all out of the size I ordered. Turns out, they didn't have any extra smalls in stock for any helmet besides motocross.
The guy talking to me was nice enough, and gave a deal on a newer helmet, telling me that I should have it in two or three weeks. I ended up having to borrow a helmet for a track event on the 17th, but I figured it was for the better.
So today I get another call from the guys over at Bell Helmets. Shipment in and oh no! No one ordered any extra smalls! I asked him what he suggested we do, "Well you could wait a few more weeks to see if we get any extra smalls in."
"So there is no guarantee that you will get any extra smalls in with the next shipment?"
"Correct."
I'm sorry, hold the phone here. If someone orders and pays for something in a certain size and it’s out of stock, shouldn't you order that size and not just sit there waiting to see if it ever comes in? That's just bad business practices.
I ended up decided not to wait around for this apparent unicorn of a helmet to come in and just got a small. Sure, I got a discount, damn well should of as well. It just doesn't sit right with me that no one ordered what I paid them for.
