do the newer model X5 headlights (not sure if they started in 03 or 04) fit into an 02 X5?

no, style changed in 04 and they won;t fit.

you know of anyway to get the angels eyes on it then/?

There is a way to open the '02 X5, but the '03's are not so easy to open. I know there are kits out there, and some sponsors for the board sell them.
