I bought these 2 pair of springs from Bimmer World not knowing how stiff they were and later found out they are 1482# and 1710#. Way to stiff for my needs so I am trying to get rid of them. If anyone is interested here is a link:

Not needing them myself, but interesting/good idea to Weld the tender spring to the regular spring. It gets around some sanctioning rules that Dissallow 2 springs. Plus eliminates the special intermediate perch normally required.

Do you know the rate of the tender spring?

Do you know the rate of the tender spring?

375 lb/in for the 1710 lb/in (300N/mm) spring
313 lb/in for the 1482 lb/in (260N/mm) spring
according to the Grp. N catalog and my rudimentary maths skilZ :)

Good info. I don't know exactly how much travel the tenders have until they bottom out, but it sounds like they are setup to be fully compressed at static (at least on an average "Prepared" weight E36) instead of to create a true "progressive" spring rate under bump...that should make damper tuning a lot easier.

Your auction says used 3 races. So how did they perform on the track? I'd guess your shocks may have not been stiff enough to control them. Otherwise how was the understeer/oversteer balance? Were they so stiff you just bounced around the track or the power couldn't get to the ground?

Was your ride height lowered because of the tender springs compressing?
Or did you lower the car with the higher rates preventing bottoming?

You ran the higher rates on the rear, right?

Did your braking improve because of less front dive?

Did you drive at all on public streets? Were they unbearable, crashing on road bumps, knocking your teeth out?

Trying to get an idea of how stiff is bearable on a dual street/track driver. Thnx!

Sorry to mislead about the usage of the springs. I never installed them on my car when I found out the weights of the springs. They were used briefly by someone associated with Bimmer World as I was told.

Unless you have adjustable coilovers I wouldn't consider these. Also, at these stiff spring weights I don't think you would want to use them as a daily driver at all. These would really only be suited for a track car.
