I guess this has been posted before - but any advice is appreciated.

Last week (before breaking my leg!) I moved the car off the drive to do some gardening/prep work for patio (not really a patio but level work area beside the house - but don't tell that to wife!). As it was hot I opened all windows etc.

The sunroof would only tilt and wouldn't open - I can hear the motor running - have I stripped some gears?? How easy is it to locate these and replace?? Is BMW the best palce to source spares?? I can use RealOEM as a parts diagram if that helps.

Paul.

Glad I can be of service -

You can of course - open the sunroof manually by removing the little panel up there and turning it with the supplied wrench fro the tool kit..

otherwise - you've got to find a socket that fits - probably somewhere around a 19mm if I had to guess.

You'll probably have to source the gears or cables (it's one or the other, it could also be that the cable just jumped it's track) from BMW mobile tradition - unless there's a 6er sitting at a parts yard somewhere close.

We're heading in the right direction - I didn't know about the 'manual operation' - I'll give it a try.

If the cable has jumped it's track will I be able to see that when it's open, what should I be looking for ??

Thanks

Paul.
