How it happened:

Driving to Dallas Fri night after work to see the GF, ~9 pm. i-45n, mile 115.

Got in a fight w/ a large peice of tire tread at ~70 mph. Tire tread > M3. :(

Fortunately I had tape and a flashlight in the trunk (I am an eagle scout/OCD like that), so I was able to do some roadside repairs and keep moving instead of having to wait for AAA.

Had to drive my car around Dallas looking like a tool for Sat and Sun.

Q1: Can I get anyone (besides myself) to pay for this?

Q2: Can that bumper be fixed (at least to "pretty good" status) ?

Mac

ouch! been there done that but not as bad.

You'll have to pay for it.

Probably cheaper to just buy a new bumper or used and have it repainted.

Damn that sucks. I agree with Hinz, just buy a new bumper, new or used.

If you saw the truck that the tire came off of and memorized his license plate and followed him you could get him to pay for it. That happened to my Z3, truck tire disentegrated in front of me hit my hood and dented/scratched it. Followed the guy, got the plates, called the number on the back of the truck. Took about 2 months but finally recieved a check to fix it...plus a little extra, muhaha.
