My 2001 bmw x5 3.0 with 4.6 wheels and tires drives like crap. It has something wrong with the front left tire. I have replaced the tires but it stills drives like crap. Do all X5s drive like crap? I wonder if it drives like this because it got hit in the front before I bought it.

can you be more specific than 'drives like crap'? is the ride too rough, steering not responsive, brakes underperforming, etc?

I have an 02 4.4i and just put on 20' rims. The ride is just as smooth, brakes are very responsive, and the steering feels tighter. I bought my X b/c I like the way it handles, unlike any other SUV!!

check the air pressure on all the tires to make sure they are uniform. Mine are normally around 32 psi. Other than that, could be a defective shock. I'd have someone take a look at it.

did you run a carfax before you bought it? if so, maybe you can contact whoever did the bodywork to see what the true extent of the damage was.

Even though your tires are new, there could still be a problem such as a broken belt.
The X handles very well, and you should not have any problem as you described.
Accidents can certainly cause problems, a lot of problems.
Take it to a facility that specializes in suspensions, or the BMW dealer in your area.
The BMW dealer can probably track a defective suspension part down pretty quick since they deal with this every day.

Let us know what you find.

UPDATE: The car just got new weights on the tires and its driving a lot better.
