The worlds oddest rally stage (http://www.norsk-rally.com/tvmedia/t3.wmv )

Check out this video clip. It has starting and stopping points and looks the part, but why?

Seems like he's trying to see how far he can make it without hitting any of the objets in the way :dunno :D

Actually pretty neat rally footage.. an industrial park does joost fine as a venue ja ?

I noticed he had a second gear lever that he was using. I'm assuming that he was putting the car in/out of AWD with it ?

Any suggestions for links to more video like this ?

The second handle is the e-brake. It's mounted pretty high, as pro-rally guys use it a lot to get around sharp corners.

Thanks..

That makes sense.. I could see him fooling with it setting up for the corners... Knowing nothing about Hyundai rally cars I thought that car was an AWD or Front wheel drive..

Taking it out of AWD would make sense for setting the rear end out too... but I guess if you had front wheel drive or all wheel drive, why would you want to kick the arse end out ?

So that (jumping to a conclusion) was a RWD Hundai... Hmm... I'll have to do some 'research' into the current state of rally cars.

I wish there was more rally activity in the US.. Seems like most everybody in the US wants to watch NASCAR (whatever they are they aren't stock cars) go round-n-round-n-round-n-round....(repeat 100 times).. then the race emds up being won by who can get lucky with the yellow flags.

Actually as far as I know all WRC cars are AWD, and I am postive the Hyundai cars are no exception.

Interesting.. the last time I was paying any attention to world rally (15 yrs ago?) was when the 4WD Audi's had shown up... they wouldn't cross up on the corners like the RWD folks but would simply leave 4 black streaks on the pavement

Anyone have more links or recommended video's of rally cars?
To me it's the most interesting form of racing to watch.

Here's the site for some Norsk-rally videos. Slow loading though, being overseas and all. Oh, and freshen up on your Swedish that you learned in high school.
