I contacted them yesterday and the car was shipped out on the 23rd... WTF???
We pay this much money to ship a car and it takes more than a month to get to us?
The car better have no damage from them, but judging from their service so far, I am anticipating it.
Anyone else ever used these guys?
Gop-Dogg 06-25-2005, 01:54 PM I used them to ship my car from Atlanta to Houston. No issues. Took a week to move the car.
BimmerFreak 06-25-2005, 02:16 PM I used them to ship a car from LA to here in TN...
Took 5 days!
Don't get too pissy until its the 30th.
They gave you an ETA, so dont sweat it until they miss that date.
NickM3 06-25-2005, 02:26 PM No problems when i used them.
Scorp965 06-25-2005, 08:03 PM I had a horrible 1.5 month experiance involving them, a porsche in PA, and 2 broken transport trucks (had to wait for them to get fixed, apparently they don't believe in replacement trucks to stay on schedule) - they wouldn't even give me some kind of partial refund at the end of it all, I would AVOID.
I have used A1 autotransport 2x since then, only good stuff to say about them (and they're typically cheaper too).
AJCdis3 06-25-2005, 08:53 PM I shipped my car from las vegas the 10th with a 7-10 day ETA.... they said now they are "behind schedule" and it'll be around the 30th when I get my car back. I will NEVER used them again. :mad
Yasir 06-25-2005, 09:15 PM From what i have heard is they usually subcontract their buisness out so don't be surprised if you paid for enclosed shipping and it arrives in an open container :)
Higgins 06-25-2005, 10:59 PM I have used A1 autotransport 2x since then, only good stuff to say about them (and they're typically cheaper too).
I've used DAS 2X, Chicago - LA, and Houston - Chicago, with no issues.
I'm considering A1 autotransport to ship an 97 M3 LA to Chicago. DAS told me it has to be shipped enclosed because of a different frame(?) setup which does not allow being chained down. A1 says they can "strap the wheels" securely. Any thoughts?
Scorp965 06-25-2005, 11:08 PM Well, the porsche was shipped "enclosed" (later found out it wasn't enclosed) with DAS, was left in an open-air yard (sustaining door dings) for a week, and arrived after about twice the time that was quoted - I would rather drive a car cross country than pay DAS another dime (they were unappologetic about the entire situation, btw, and gave me the 'our delivery windows are estimates, not guarrenties' line after the car took 1.5 months, 42 days, to make it from PA to CA)
As far as A1 is concerned... I used them to ship an E34, open trailer, as well as a different porsche 911 open trailer - both times they hit their delivery windows, both times they arrived in perfect condition, both times they were the lowest price.
Some things to consider...
1. Enclosed Trailer doesn't mean enclosed transport - certain legs will be open trailer, the car will probably be delivered to you open trailer, and the car will be stored in between trucks in an auto yard.
2. The only upgrade, besides possibly insurance, worth purchasing is 'top loading' - this is minimal, eg $40, and makes sure you don't have a leaky car above your pride & joy.
If I were shipping a car tomorrow it would be via A1 & it would be top loaded.
i own a car dealreship and deal with shipping cars to customers all the time.... its hilarious to hear that you guys all use DAS.... it just shows that they are smart when it comes to marketing... both DAS and A1 Transport are the biggest ripoffs in the world. They take forever, charge you stupid money, and are very impersonable. I recommend Time Auto Transport to all my customers, they act as a broker and will find a truck in the area at a competitive price far better than DAS. DAS and A1 Transport both use their own trucks hence the delay.

We didn't choose it, the seller did. Those asshats.
Scorp965 06-26-2005, 03:27 AM DAS is eBay-recommended, part of the reason why they are frequently used.
bgcabrio 06-26-2005, 09:12 AM I wish I would have found this thread a month ago. I have a 325ic they are shipping now. THey have had it sitting at their Cali terminal since June 14th, "Estimated Time of Arrival" is July 3rd. I really hope it is in before July 4th.

lmao no offense but you are the biggest sucker in the world.... ebay recommended.... DAS is in bed with eBay dude.... theyre recommended by eBay because DAS pays ebay for advertising and to get the exposure they get. that way they can charge you people ridiculous amounts and treat you guys like shit.
Let me ask you this and lets use our brains. Who fuckin cares if eBay recommends DAS, eBay is the auction house. Do you think eBay has ever used a car shipping company ???? eBay doesn't sell cars, us dealers on eBay sell cars so take it from me when I make a shipping recommendation. DAS charges 1400 from miami to socal and it will take a month, so does A1. I can get u a guy who will charge 850 and take 1/3rd of the time if that

And you are a moron who didn't read my above posts - as I said, I used DAS, had a horrible experiance, and wouldn't recommend anyone else use their service. The company I have had good experiances with, on two transports, is A1 auto transport.
brabus114 06-28-2005, 12:54 AM So aside from my car being picked up then unloaded, reloaded, time after time, it was finally broken into in the yard, where the dash/ac unit/stereo was ruined not to mention a bunch of after market parts taken, and a broken window. "DAS we are not responsible." Me, "it was in your lot and the car should have been here." DAS, " call your insurance company." Then the car avvives covered in oil compliments of the leaking car above mine. Again, "call yuor insurance co."
fitler 06-30-2005, 12:26 PM i recently shiped my car form FL to CO using a company called dependable auto shippers. the car arrived a week past their deadline and it was completely filthy. i had paid for and inclosed trailer and even tiped the worker at the terminal to put the car inside. well when it finally arrived it was so dirty that i could really tell if there was any damages. at that time the lady working there told me i had three days to report any damages. well i drove straight to the car was and when i got there i noticed that my front right of the bumper had been scratched and that the slider inside had probably been broken. i called them that same day and reported the damage and they filled a claim and then they sent out an appraiser. The appraisor quoted me at 300 to 400 which i knew was bullshit so i called my claims person and told her that i was having a second opinion. well that day the claims person called me and said that they didn't have to pay to fix the car because i didn't report the damage when i picked up car. i'm waiting for the manager to call me back.
has anyone ever delt with a situation like this and do you have any suggestions.
never used dependable auto shippers
eddieb022000 06-30-2005, 02:40 PM i shipped mine once from CA to NY and the speedo had a blown fuse so the car was not recording milage... probably drove the car accross the country... not to mention the fact that they stole everything that wasnt bolted on... i will never ship a car again, lesson learned :evil2
93bmw325is 06-30-2005, 10:20 PM did you use the same shipper the thread strarter used?
bgcabrio 07-04-2005, 12:02 PM Another pi$$ed off DAS customer here. I have been waiting since June 11 and still no car. For the love of God avoid this company at all cost. Horrible customer service and very long delivery times. The car should have been delivered yesterday, but has been stuck in TX since Friday.

Sound Of Speed 07-04-2005, 03:19 PM Well we got the car.
DAS is horrible. They put a few minor scratches on the car, had water spots everywhere, and had an oil drop near the window... all that on top of the one month shipping.
Garbage.
Wiseguy ON 07-05-2005, 07:53 AM They blow. I also use Time, ask Zubin who turned him on to them ;)
I been using them for years and they rock, DAS is a ripoff company that uses slick marketing to get biz.
AJCdis3 07-10-2005, 02:43 PM just picked up my 318 Tuesday... Car is scratched everywhere!!!! my M3 side skirt was ripped off and put back on somehow but it still looks like shit! Initial estimates at 2 body shops put the damage anywhere from $980-$1400. I filed a claim 5 days ago and haven’t gotten a call back yet! I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN! DAP SUCKS !!!!
if I don't get a call by TUES I am going to contact my lawyer :mad
