View Full Version : Just ordered Red S
Oxcart 1 07-02-2002, 11:45 PM There was a Mini S about to be built for a local stealer and my parents decided to get it, luckily we were able to change it to the color (red) my mom wanted because its goingto be hers. It will have Options 1,2, and 3 with GPS. Should be very kewl. Black interior.
Oxcart 1 07-02-2002, 11:46 PM even got her looking at wheels :)
Your mom is cool............. I been trying to get my mother in a bmw for years, its such a PITA
Oxcart 1 07-02-2002, 11:56 PM ya she has a MB right now, the only one without a BMW...not any more though!
Preppy 07-03-2002, 12:06 AM Awesome dude!
Will you get to drive it any?

Your mom seems cool... I don't know too many older people who would want a car like that... after 30 it seems like most people want a mondo cruiser... but the S is awesome!! Congrats man, have fun washing it:D
Oxcart 1 07-03-2002, 01:28 AM yup, with all those options it was an expensive little bugger though :)
The Beastmaster 07-03-2002, 06:47 AM You definitely have a cool mom! My mom can't drive stick, so the S was definitely out of the question. Well, what can you expect from a 72 year old lady. At least she's getting a Cooper w/ CVT, my Mothers Day present to her. It's gonna be Pure Silver on Pure Silver. Unfortunately, she didn't like the chili red w/ kaleido red interior and red door panels. That looks soo SWEET!
As for wheels, @ Tire Rack, they have ASA JS5 wheels that look awesome. Some guys put 18s on their Coopers and S'.
Stylin 07-30-2002, 02:03 AM I want it!!!
Are they charging over invoice for the regular Coopers?
Theres a local used car lot that has a Mini Cooper S there.. not sure if its used or new but they want $28,500 for it! I know its a very nice car but almost $30k for a Mini is a bit crazy IMO.
Oxcart 1 07-30-2002, 02:07 AM Nope they are just charging regular at this Dealer, others wanted us to buy two thousand dollar floor mats.
SilverStreak 07-30-2002, 09:27 AM Congrats, Aaron! What color roof did she go with?

Ack!!! Mondo cruiser. Well. Not this over 30. Mini Cooper S for me! My mom was kinda the same way...she had some interesting cars in her time. I hope when I am 70-ish I will still be driving the S and the ///M Roadster.
My mom, if you care, had:
1967 Cougar (in 1966)
1976 Porsche 924 bright yellow (ok, she didn't know that it was a pile)
looked at Lancia Scorpions... X1/9s, TR7s...but got the Porsche...
traded it when she found out it was junk for a
1977 VW Scirocco.
Got some of the first Acuras: Legends (1986, 1990) and a 1995 TL.. that was her last car. She could have done worse, I think she was already suffering from Alzheimer's when she got that one. I think they really shafted her on $$. :(
SilverStreak 07-30-2002, 04:42 PM Geez, my Mom drives a 97 Malibu... You guys had cool Moms!!! :D
///|V|3 BRAD 07-30-2002, 04:54 PM My mom in a cooper would be cool. I like her car that she has now enough as it is. 1990 Carrera 2. And the Chevy TaHOE (dont like it toooo much).
keep the moms cool guys.:buttrock
Dark Helmet 07-31-2002, 03:07 AM my mom is "disenchanted" with her 7-month-old ML320 and wants an X5 4.4i
Oxcart 1 07-31-2002, 02:51 PM ITs going to be red with a white roof, I tried her to get a red roof because with one of the options you could get the roof to match (cause teh car was originally going to be ALL silver) and we bought and changed teh options the day before it was going to start production.
SilverStreak 07-31-2002, 04:03 PM That sounds nice, Aaron!

Chili Red w/ white is the way to go!;)
Stylin 08-01-2002, 01:41 AM I saw a red cooper and I really like it! Oh I will have my Cooper.. it may not be the S but I will have my Cooper as my daily driver. Gotta pay off the Saturn some more first.
SilverStreak 08-01-2002, 09:14 AM Me and the wife are serious about getting a Mini (non-s) just for a 3rd car/commuter for her, they are just too cool!

You are too much man:biglaughb I bet you are thinking about a supercharger set up...
SilverStreak 08-02-2002, 01:30 PM It all depends on the budget.... :D
Kyle K. 08-04-2002, 03:38 AM Dave... you have to make a sleeper MINI... man would that be great. I think minimania.com has a turbo setup in the works..... that with a 4.29 lsd from there.... sweetness. :devillook
MDork 08-04-2002, 01:21 PM talk about cool moms...my mom just got an audi allroad quattro 6-speed...then made my dad put the dinan chip in it for 320 hp!! :buttrock -she used to drive an e36 m3 vert----guess the car bug runs in the genes for me---my dad has assumed the m3 as his second car but is pissed because the allroad is just as fast---

Does Dinan make an Audi chip or something?
Preppy 08-05-2002, 03:32 PM I never knew Dinan made stuff for Audi too? Hmm, interesting.
MDork 08-05-2002, 03:58 PM i didnt know either till my bro got his s4 and drove to the dinan dealer...they dont advertise it as far as i know---i asked him at least 30 times if he was sure it was dinan after he put it in...the thing hauls ass now though...its a huge difference
Kyle K. 08-05-2002, 04:17 PM I'm not positive but I think Dinan even makes lexus/acura parts now... not advertised on their website though, :dunno
Preppy 08-05-2002, 10:11 PM Wow, acura and lexus too?
I guess the modding business is doing good nowadays :az:

If that's true, I'd be very surprised.
BMLRacer 08-10-2002, 01:17 PM Aaron,
Did MAG drop the 1k over sticker? they did for Jen and I as soon as we walked in the door. We are ordering (placing first of Sept) a 2003 Cooper S, red, white roof, black int., no stripes, moon roof, sport A/S tire, prem, xenon, but no leather, no GPS Came to right about 23k, or 5k LESS than a comparable Jetta. Car should hit the streets in late Dec.
Brian
Preppy 08-10-2002, 02:16 PM Sweet, Brian is getting a Mini too! :D
BMLRacer 08-10-2002, 05:57 PM Chris,
Jen is getting a Mini. We're trading in her looooowwww mileag Jetta. I'm just the lucky schmuck who already put down $500 for an order slot. Oh, and I got a tshirt for spending my money..woooohooooo
Preppy 08-10-2002, 06:58 PM Well, still, you'll get to drive it everybow and then right?
*oh well, you still have the BF.C z3 :)
BMLRacer 08-10-2002, 07:44 PM I drive the Jetta more than the M3 (I've driven the M less than 900 miles this YEAR), so yes, I'll be seen in a Mini quite a bit.
I'm trying to put together a plan to purchase the TbR Z3.
Preppy 08-10-2002, 11:20 PM wow, that M3 has got to be the most spoiled car huh ;) so pampered :D

Time for Rico Suave. I'm sure the M3 isn't as pampered as his GF!;)

The car, the girl or himself?:biglaughb
If it's the car, Brian has some serious issues! Br"y"ans are usually more sane and grounded.:D
BMLRacer 08-15-2002, 03:35 PM Yes, I do have issues. I take a floor jack with me to the pressure washer so that I can make sure that the wheel wells and underbody is as clean as the other surfaces. It's kind of funny to see me at the quarter car wash at 1am with $20 in quarters, a bucket, lots of chemicals, and my floor jack. But then again, my car is freaking spotless. I'm sure the Mini will get the same treatment.
The GF, well, she gets taken care of as well.....

Har har :D
So any word about the M3 Brian? Is it going to a good home yet?
BMLRacer 08-15-2002, 04:08 PM Well, I really dn't WANT to sell it, but we're looking for the right owner. In the mean time, I'm going to drive it a bit when I'm in town. I'm not in any real hurry to sell it, and if I find a sponsor for next year (or we can make TbR strong enough), I won't have to sell it.
Preppy 08-15-2002, 04:17 PM I don't doubt that TbR will be stronger the next time around. It seemed rather successful this year, on and off the track.
I hope you do end up keeping the car, you've put so much into that car.
SilverStreak 08-16-2002, 08:31 AM When's Brian gonna race a Mini for TbR?? :D
Preppy 08-16-2002, 11:46 AM C'mon Brian...you gotta race the Mini.....we love the Mini ;)
*making fun of the UPS commercials with Dale Jarrett :D
SilverStreak 08-16-2002, 01:30 PM RACE THE MINI!!!!!! :D

BMLRacer 08-17-2002, 12:33 PM In order to race a Mini, one would have to get a reg. Cooper and race it in SCCA SSC. There is no place for the S/Cd Cooper S at the moment. Well, maybe Grand Am Cup, but it'd get smoked.
If someone wants to buy me a Cooper to race, I'll happily run the car
The Beastmaster 08-17-2002, 07:40 PM How's about 1:12 RC cars?

I'm kiddin Brian ;)
The Beastmaster 08-20-2002, 11:15 PM Just wait and see. I'll use my spray to supercool the battery pack and it'll give me a little more power.
Oxcart 1 08-25-2002, 02:34 AM Ugh! They haven't called yet! They should at the end of this month or beggining of next month. Getting excited.
The Beastmaster 08-25-2002, 04:15 AM Don't you have the production # of the car? That way you can track it on MINI USA. I know, I know, anticipation is a bitch!
Kyle K. 08-25-2002, 08:13 PM ahh, production number... Definately get that little bugger, I'm going to call my dealer tomorrow to get mine
:rant on:
I e-mailed my aunt a month ago from Stanford asking her to e-mail me back the production number so I could check the dates and whatnot on MINIUSA.com, 3 days later, she writes back saying that she doesn't know it. I write back, tell her to call the dealer, its quite simple. I never hear from her again. I email back a week later, still no response. 2 weeks later I get back here to NJ and ask her about the emails... apparently she "forgot"... now I'm going to end up doing it myself 1 month after the e-mail and it only takes about 2 minutes to call the dealer!!! :complain Ok... I think I'm done
:rant off:
