2 jobs-#1 is replacement of the brake bomb, brakes much better now.
#2-suspension rebuild.FCP sells a susp kit that includes the up & low control arms, tie rod assy's,sway links and idler all for $299...i had a set of the poly(grunt) bushings punched in and the ride felt great.just finished the install and only did about a 50 mile drive.
on a side note,i need 2 front strut assy's that dont have any camber or a set of spacers.i have a set of style 32's that wont fit on the front because the tire hits the spring perch.my front struts appear to have almost as much camber as the rear wheels,so i think that's my clearance issue.

Dave, If my mind is working correctly, the camber is set by the bearing at the top of the strut. Sounds like the off set is wrong. I hate the sound of spacers.

hey bill,i may be wrong but i'm pretty sure it's the angle of the spindle in relation to the strut housing.when i got this 6 in march both front struts were leaking.where the nut that secures the cartridge was so rusted that i just got a set of housings from another 6.the ones that were originaly on the car hardly had any camber and the set i installed produced noticable camber.
the car i got the style 32 wheels from was an M635 and it did not have spacers on it.the 32's are 17" and the front are 8" wide and the rear are 9".the rears will fit,but the front hit.i dont want want to use spacers either and all reading i've done says to use only high quality, like H.R..

Dave, I don't know on this topic. I was under the impression that the camber was set by the top bearing. Having seen nothing but kits to cure the camber problem with lowering springs, et. al.. By this, it looks like the bottom is fixed and the top adjustable. As far as spacers go, If they don't fit I don't want them. If all it would take was some hub-centric adaptors, that would be different. Sorry, man, you are on your own. Bill

hey bill.i know this is confusing, they do make camber adjustable bearings for the top of the strut.but even if i were able to adjust the camber it is going to move the whole strut and not change the fixed angle between the spindle and housing.
the struts i took off the car had the front wheels almost straight up & down with a gap between the tire(TRX's) and the housing.the replacement strut housings closed that gap and introduced the camber.
almost like the spindle is not sticking straight out,but angled slightly torwards the housing,if that makes sense.when i got this set of housings of another car i never even thought to check the gap,i know now what to look for.
i would trade these 17" style 32's for a set of 16" style 32's.this style of wheel is going to transform the 6,they have 15 thin spokes and a lip.very nice looking.i think originally they came on a 540i sport.they do require hubcentric rings and i have them.i think i will only need 5-10mm spacers if that's the route i take.i'm going to search for housings 1st.

I learned something new. That small of a spacer shouldn't make too much difference.
