I bought a X3 2.5i one month ago, it is very good, enough power for daily use. Comfortable. Smaller size than X5 but more cargo room than X5. And much cheaper too. However, if you are not looking for SUV, get new 325 or 330 instead.

JD Power's 2005 model year initial (first 90 days) quality satisfaction survey, the X3 ranked #2, right behind the Lexus RX330.

That's not to say that the car is not without its problems, but relatively speaking, the sampled data suggests a higher likelihood of satisfaction.

my sister has a 3.0 x3 w/ 6 speed. she likes it a lot. she has been in a low mph accident in it and it held up very well. just a front end collision - airbags did go off- she was perfectly fine. just make sure your sister pays attention when she drives. mine hopefully learned her lesson. but yea it is an extremely safe car as all 3 series bmw's are. it drives well too. i borrowed it for about a month last summer and it is a very fun suv to drive. lots of cool features- giant moonroof. good luck with your purchase. x3's are great cars.
