So, tonight I was putting in my osram silverstar bulbs into my DEPO ellipsoids. For the high beam, you simply twist the back off to get access to plug the bulb in. For the low beam, you can't do that. You can take the back off, but that brings the glass sphere thing with it, and doesn't give you access to plug in the bulb. So, as they say, what the crap? I'll be posting some pics along the way if I can get the darned bulbs in.

Thanks in advance!

uhhh, h1 bulbs are held down by pins...you dont need to twist anything off. Look for the pins.

Yeah, but they're protected/enclosed by these buckets that have the wired running through them. Just fiddle around with them and they should eventually twist right off. I had the same problem with mine, but it turned out that they were just sort of stuck. Depo isn't known for making the highest quality products...oh well.

can anyone confirm this? I don't want to just work something off that's not supposed to come off. How does it go back on (so I don't just break it)?

hmmm its been so long. i haven't touched my headlights since i got hid's. anyway, yes, it's correct. h1's are held in by pins. the black cap to access this area is a twist-on/twist-off deal iirc. can somebody confirm?

That's correct. If you need a hand, let me know. Not sure where you are, but I'm in Ames. PM me for phone number. I'm leaving tonight for indy (US GP, baby!!) but will be back Monday. I might be able to meet you and give you a little help. I recently changed my headlights to Euro Smiley's, and am familar with how they all work.

ARG! It's like that piece is welded on there - I can't twist that black plastic piece off the low beam housing! Are you sure that's what I have to do? Am I missing something? I'm using all my strength - I'm going to break it here!

Have you tried both sides, and no luck with either one??

Are you sure you're turning the right direction?? Haha, I made that mistake and was thinking 'wtf????' for like 5 minutes until I realized my stupidity.

Remember, they don't 'thread' out. They just rotate a few degrees and then pull straight off.

how did you put in a bulb in the first place? Yes the low beam opens up the exact same way as the high beam

Yeah, thanks to your blowdryer idea. The rest of the install happens tomorrow. Thanks for all your input, I'll have pics later!
