I need that and a Flex disc for my car. I noticed this APA one is much cheaper than the LEM????? one. I need to save money wherever I can with this car, so if it will work then thats all I need.

I can't speak for the relative quality, but I can say to carefully check the u-joints and CV joints on the driveshaft for wear. If they aren't silky smooth and real easy to move they will cause very early failure of the center bearing. mbogosia 06-15-2005, 09:29 PM Well as of right now I have just a slight rumbling/vibration in 1st gear. It can barely be felt and is definetly in its early stages. Hopefully my joints look okay. If they don't then I asume I should just buy a whole driveshaft and replace right? thejlevie 06-15-2005, 10:29 PM The only way to check the u-joints and CV joints is with the driveshaft out of the car where you can "wobble" each joint. My experience has been that a vibration/thump/bump felt in the car in 1st under moderate to heavy accelleration means that the drive shaft joints have gotten stiff and taken out the center bearing (and maybe the guibo). Those have all been on cars with ~100K miles and there was noticable stiffness in the joints once I had the driveshaft out of the car. If the driveshaft is bad your choices are a new unit or to have yours rebuilt. http://www.driveshafts.com/bmw/index.html is one place that does a quality rebuild. |
