View Full Version : New M5 Release Date ?

Before I go ahead and get an 01 M5, was thinking maybe I should wait until the new model comes out and prices drop even more than they have over past few years.

Anybody have an idea of when the release is? Just curious because I don't want to wait an eternity, but I wouldn't mind saving another 7-8K or how ever much more it drops for the E39 M5 prices.

TIA

We should start to see it on this side of the pond this fall. however, I've read the waiting list in europe is 2 year from now for delivery. Don't know what that means for NA.

That's way too long to wait...I was/am willing to wait about 2 months, 3 months tops.

Didnt you sell your z06 because of commute? Now you're going to buy a more expensive car to maintain? Have you really thought this through? Did you buy a DD? If you did, then awesome, post pics when you get it, if not seriously consider how much it costs to own a m5.

Yes, I have thoroughly considered all the maintenance, including prices, 2 extra spark plugs, what have you.

Yes, I did sell the Z06 because of the commute...but that was months ago...if you're so closing following along with my previous cars and my life, you would know that things have changed (thread in OT about it a while ago).

I had a huge thread in OT about how things have changed...I just landed a kick position with Legg Mason, in which corporate headquarters are downtown and I can take the train there and walk two blocks. In other words, the car will be used when I get home from work and on weekends, so there is no commute to and from work, unlike my previous job which was about 60-70/day and killer gas mileage.

The money will be covering payments, maintenance and mods, so don't worry about it ;)

I considered a Z06 again, but, I would like to fit a few more girls in the car, not just one :)

I'll more than likely get another Z06 in the future...once my career is in full swing and I can afford both these cars, it'll be my first pick without a doubt. For those who have driven one or own one, know what I'm talking about.

I will post pics once I buy the car ...

Sounds like he has thought it through and he can afford a M5. Congratulations Armo95!

Now that I can afford a M5 I want a M6. I'm thinking about just getting a 645 but I'm waiting for BMW to wise up and make a convertible hard top. If they do I will be teh first person at the dealer.

You work there?

I work as business analyst in the Owings Mills location (also one of the corportate hq locations) and work with the asset management subsidiaries and I know a few people downtown.

I've been spending a lot of time with one of the business units downtown lately. Maybe I'll see ya around.

Yea, man. PM me your number. My neighbor helped push my resume there...he has been working there for 4 years now. I interviewed with them, they checked my resume and called me a few days ago to ask when I can start...

I'll be working for the Private Client Group in the downtown location.

Well, shit, Smith and Barney are merging...I'm sure you've heard about that?

Legg Mason is a fantastic company...the commute is great, I know a couple guys from HS that work there, my referral has been a child friend...too many "ups" to refuse it, you know?

Smith Barney has been a single firm for quite sometime now. The last big brokerage house to have been merged into it was Shearson Lehman.

So you like Legg better than Smith Barney?

Well, welcome and I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay at Legg Mason. :)

I'm surprised by those comments, being that you're at our firm.

I guess you don't read the WSJ or even the local paper, which is not good if you're going into the FA program.

I haven't really done that...just started today and just got that news. I've been reading on it since like 6:30 tonight...so I'm not too up to date on it.

I'm new to the Financial world...I was an accounting major and worked for an accounting department before Legg.

Really? Because that would've been the first thing you would've known in class.

You probably have Ray Miller as the trainer for the class then. He likes to just jump right in-he thinks everyone knows as much as he does :laugh. Tell Ray I said "hi!" He's a great guy.

What systems did you cover today? Bridge quote systems? Great system-very robust.

Michelle Marshall was the class room "teacher"...Michael Armstrong was involved a little with us...Becky told us about 401K, we met with a Broker(forgot his name) systems...I sat down with an Associate FA, he showed me ACROW and the basic program for doing trades(specifically just Mutual Fund trades today)...it was very basic...he showed me around the floors 19th and 20th where the PCG are located...introduced me to a few brokers/FA's...where I would get the brokers' mail every single morning/afternoon...things of that sort.

I didn't meet Ray Miller...

I make my persian grandmother quilt for 10 cents an hour and then sell the quilts she makes for $1000 claiming it is a persian hand-made quilt. That's how I do it, not sure about the rest of these guys :dunno
