View Full Version : Speeding Ticket: PBJ

I got a speeding ticket and a failure to produce license on demand citation in Southern Maryland for which I am clearly guilty. I don't want to dispute the ticket, because the trooper wrote me up for 64 in 55 when I was clocked at 89, but I would like to try and get probation before judgement. Do I have to stand in front of the judge for that or can I make a written statement of guilty with an explanation?

You still have to show up.

Never plead guilty w/ explanation. At least if you plead not guilty you have a chance the cop wont show. If you plead guilty w/ expl. the cop is not req. to show up.

If the cop is there that day, when the judge asks you what do you plead, THEN you plead guilty w/ expl.

Is this your first ticket? If not, dont expect PBJ as the cop has already reduced your offense. The judge will ask the cop this and the cop will confirm. They almost always write down on their notes that they reduced your speed on the ticket.

Oh, wow, didn't see that. Like I said, I didn't mention it.

Besides, the entire thread was misinterpreted. It was really about carrying cash in those free bank envelopes rather than paying for things with cash, per se.

Wow...how you come up with material like that is beyond me.

I use plastic bags, does that mean I'm rich?

Mr. Maboomba
06-16-2005, 12:45 AM
Well, see, the problem is that you're just being a smartass and you don't actually use plastic bags to carry around money. Besides, we covered in the OT thread that class and money are not neccessarily related.

I'm not an elitist or an idiot, I just view what goes on in the world with curiosity.

Edit: What is your problem anyway? First of all, this thread isn't about my Off-Topic threads at all. So you're trashing my thread with your moronic babble. Second of all, you apparently have some kind of vendetta because you're the "spark behind the fire" - you've made three posts in this thread referencing the OT cash thread. There are a lot of other ":rofl" replies but you're the only one who is being an asshole.

That said, enjoy your time-out.

Your comment is irrelevant because I don't have a job nor money so I can't afford to pay with cash or credit.

Calm down.. everyone is just having fun with you.. It wouldnt be Bimmerforums if you didnt get flamed every once in awhile. You have to be 100% clear when you post anything because there is always that person or People in our case who will run with it and make you look like a tool. Just laugh it off man You have to admit its kinda funny. BAck to topic. I doubt you should go to court. Pay the fines, If you go the officer has every right to bring up the fact that you were going faster then he said. Pay up and move on is my advice

I don't have a job nor money.

But, you drive a BMW - that is all that matters ;)

Do you have ANY other tickets on your record? (think in the past 3 years). If you do, then just pay the fine and do not go. If you do not, I would goto court then. Plead guilty and just act contrite.

If you use these words, I will bet you get PBJ, "Your honor, I plead guilty with explanation. My explanation: there is none. I was speeding and no matter how bad of a day I had, that is not an excuse for speeding. I am sorry. I am here before this court to respectfully ask for clemency. If possible, I would like to be eligible for a PBJ if your honor is so inclined to grant it. Thank you."

Simple. Short. Sweet. You still may not get PBJ -- but, the judge will respect your honesty and not some B.S. excuse of you going to hospital, having a bad day at work, rushing to the airport, etc. Good luck.

You have no authority here. :stickoutt That said, no, I'm not. But it also doesn't seem like there's any moderator here, since no one in the "MAR clique" ever gets censured for anything they do.

James, I don't have any Maryland speeding tickets on record. I do have a no front plate ticket in Maryland from a year ago, a non-speeding moving violation in Florida in March that carried no points, and a speeding ticket in Alabama in March that is in the court system.

Technically speaking, none of us have any "authority" here -- in my case that point has simply been reiterated for clarification. :stickoutt

FYI - telling someone to "enjoy timeout" when they are not actually about to get a timeout is teh lose ( :( ) and is bordering on self-induced pwnage ( )

All I can say is that I have never reported a post to a moderator in the past where the offender has not gotten time out. I guess things work differently in a forum where the clique and the moderator are in bed together :dunno

I mean come on guys... I don't want to be "that idiot who got his panties in a bundle over the stupid cash thread"... but I won't be the next e36dj either. I don't act like a stuntaz on this forum or make stupid on-topic posts or trash your forums. All I ask for is a little mutual respect. Can't we all... just get along? :kiss

I really have no idea WTF you're tralking about -- but sardil's post wasn't that bad -- certainly not enough to warrant a TO no matter what forum it's on. I'll give you 10 to 1 he doesn't get a TO from your 'reported thread' :stickoutt

Mr. Maboomba

certainly not enough to warrant a TO no matter what forum it's on.

Administrator's Rule on Polluting Other Peoples' Threads (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=4240428&postcount=1)
Administrator's Rule on Off-Topic Posts in Regional Forum (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2593557&postcount=1)

I'll agree at this point he won't get a TO - they either get thrown on with the quickness or not at all.

I'd like to end this conversation - at this point I sound like a whiney bitch, even to myself. :)

A 9mph ticket when you were going 34mph over...you won't be getting PBJ. The front plate ticket and your Alabama speeding ticket will show up on the judge's computer. If you were squeaky clean, then the judge might have shown leniency.
