View Full Version : ZCP only on 2005s
ronin009 06-08-2005, 12:25 AM My dealer told me today that the Competition package is going to only be available on the 2005s. When the 2006s come out in the fall there will be no ZCP package. Can anyone else confirm this or anyone atleast heard this?
hnoppenberger 06-08-2005, 12:32 AM wouuldnt doubt it, its a grandiose waste of money...
Jiberwacker 06-08-2005, 01:46 PM Despite the opinions of its worth, does anyone know the answer? I just spoke with my dealer who said there won't be a 2006 e46 M3. So, I called BMWNA who confirmed there WILL be a 2006. They couldn't confirm the ZCP though. No offence to dealers on this site but either they do not know what is going on or they flat out lie to fill their 2005 build slots. Either way, it is sub-par service.
I would think that due to its popularity, it would be continued. Anyone have a reliable crystall ball that holds the answer? Thanks.

I dont think my dealer was lying to boost his sales considering that I already ordered by 2005 before he happened to tell me about the 2006s. Not to mention that my dealer is a personal friend, we have a relationship outside of the, stealer : sucker, relationship.

Not saying he is lying, but that he doesn't know. How can he have that info when BMWNA doesn't? There is a disconnect. I think that in general, the dealerships are out to lunch and are always in the receive mode vice send. An example is a large dealership out in Cali stating there will be no 2006 M3, when BMWNA confirmed the opposite. This information came out of both parties' mouths today. So, who knows? Either way, I really need to know about the ZCP for 06. I don't want to miss out on it.
Doctor Love 06-08-2005, 06:44 PM Well all '05s wound up coming with the ZCP suspension as I recall. So really what you'd be missing out on is an Alcantera steering wheel with fewer buttons, M Track Mode, and Interlagos Blue. Maybe they will make those individual options on the 2006? That's what I would be asking.

I hear you...I wanted the ZCP so my dealer showed me the alotment for 2005's. There are about 25 or so ZCP headed for our shores as of right now and that is it for the 2005s. My dealer tried to get me an IB ZCP from arizona but they werent going for it, so he got me a Silver Gray ZCP from a dealer in CA but they had to trade a 645i vert for it. Both cars were equiped identically (just how I wanted it), it was just all about the color. They will begin making the 2006s in the fall and like out discussion has shown there is no guaratee that there the ZCP will be available.

Don't forget the ZCP wheels, brakes, and steering rack.

Just be sure the car doesn't have the regular 19-inch wheels on it (unless you really prefer them over the ZCP ones). I saw a silver grey ZCP in one of the local dealers with them on it. Another dealer had the Interlagos with the regular 19-inchers on it. :shifty
Modena NYC 06-09-2005, 09:30 AM I wouldn't be so sure that there will be a '06 M3...
Will ZCPM3 06-09-2005, 09:57 AM i wouldnt put to much trust in the dealer or bmwna. both are equally unknowledgable when it comes to this stuff. when the zcp first was shown on bmwusa the wheel dimensions were completely wrong, and i called and emailed and was told that they were actually correct. of course zcp's started showing up and guess what. wrong dimensions

No problem there as I have already seen the build paper work...I know exactly every option that is on the car. It does have the prewire for Sat. radio which doesnt do me much good here in Hawaii though.

It amazes me that the dealerships continually screw things up. For the money shelled out, I expect some friggen professionalism. And the stealers are usually worse, with the entusiasts being more knowledgable. I can't tell you how many ZCPs I have seen with the other 19s. Simply stunning!
You and I are wanting the same car -- Silver Grey ZCP. I can get an 05 on order but prefer an 06 since it will be the final MY of production for the E46.

Don't get caught with your pants down. '05 could very well be the last year of prod.
But anyway...the Competition package is a waste of $.
Mdrei 06-10-2005, 11:27 AM BMW NA confirmed the 2006 M3. It will be build until May 2006. Options are not set as off yet.
If you want 2006 confirmation yourself, just email BMW NA they will put it in writting for you.

That's funny, because I communicate with the BMW M-brand manager and most recently, he told me there was no decision made yet. The interns responding to customers must know something we don't...

Ugggh, you're killin me here. I have gotten two confirmations from BMWNA. Now you are freakin me out with this M-brand manager statement. If I wait to believe it when I see it, I could get screwed. Buuuuuuuuut, if I get one now, it is guaranteed to come out in 06 with even better mods. It's like I live in bizzaro world. I should just do the opposite and see what happens. :mad
Modena NYC 06-10-2005, 03:23 PM BMW NA will be announcing '06 strategy in the next few weeks. If you can hang till then, I would. You'll know for sure then. And a few weeks shouldn't change much. I suspect even if there was no '06, '05 would be available till Jan 2006 or around there...

From an outside world standpoint your word is as good as mine. The 2006 model year is already in the production schedule. This is also valid for the e60 M5 for the US market, BMW AG will start production in September, with first deliveries in Nov and Dec. Mid July we should see the pricing and options for both M3 and M5.
Take it for what it's worth.

Negative. 2005 M3s STOP production in July for the standard August vacation period the Europe enjoys. That half of the continent essentially goes on holiday. 2006s start up in Sept.

I have heard the same. M3 is on the production list for 2006 and the option lists are to be released *sometime* in July. :shifty

Sorry - I didn't mean they would still produce them till Jan '06, I just meant they'd be "around".
Mill3 06-10-2005, 05:29 PM Funny....email response I got from BMW NA says that nothing is confirmed for 2006.
bimmerZ 06-10-2005, 06:13 PM The rims and tires alone are worth it, thats like 3k right there.
With the ZCP you also get the faster ratio steering from the CSL.
I drove it and the new steering rack felt way better.
rommelrules 06-10-2005, 07:22 PM It's beyond me why people say it's not worth it with a blanket statement.
It might not be worth it to YOU. To me it was well worth it.
We all have our reasons for the options we choose...

Looks pretty boiler plate to me...
The reason why i say its not worth it is because the suspension was not tuned for the larger wheels...hence, it not really much more of a performance "competition" package...its more of an appearance competition package. Read the review of it in Sports Car this past month. Its a good read.
But you are right. These facts wouldn't necessarily dissuade me from buying it...I just think people should know what they are buying.
Mill3 06-11-2005, 11:30 AM And the reply I received:
Dear xxxxx:
Thank you for your reply. I am not certain where the e-mail listed in that post came from, however, it is not accurate. The M3 information has not been finalized or released. My apologies.

Eh...doesn't make a diff to me either way. Just interesting and adds to the excitement. We'll all see how this plays out in the next month or two.
Jiberwacker 06-21-2005, 07:18 PM Confirmed today by a stealer from his internal BMW intranet. 2006 M3 will be produced fro Sept 05 to Mar 06. ZCP is an option.

I wonder if they will put the buttons back on the ZCP steering wheel.

Do you realize that you are contradicting yourself here. You bitch about how people have ZCPs with non-csl wheels yet you admit that you want a silver grey ZCP. What if I were to say "I can't tell you how many ZCPs I have seen that aren't interlagos blue. Simply stunning!"

What in the world are you talking about? I complained that the dealerships order ZCPs with the other 19s because they are dumbasses. I could care less what individuals do, they have their own tastes which I respect.
