Maybe it is just my experience with this car transport company, but I will never use them again. As of today (which is over two weeks) my car still has not made it to it's destination. When I contacted the company Tom Anderson (one of the owners) tried to out talk me every time I said something that he did not want to hear. At this point they are telling me that it will be close to three weeks before my car reaches it destination. Mr. Anderson said that in the paperwork I receive (very limited) that it says delivery in approximately 7-13 days. Ok, I could see maybe a day or two beyond, but not almost 7. He told me flat out that I would not be compensated in any way. He even told me that DOT does not consider a delivery extremely late until it is 30 days past. This was just before he hung up on me. I felt like I was at a shady Used Car Dealer and Mr. Anderson was the salesperson trying to sell me that lemon. They advertise "on time pickup and speedy delivery" Well, I guess they got it half right, but that may be because cash was involved on the pickup.
My problem is that I paid good money :cashwalle to have my car there within a certain time frame because I am having work done on my car and the shop had blocked out time for this work. On top of that I'm not sure why it would take so long to get from Boston to California. I did it in 2.5 days. :D Surely a company that does this for a living could get there within 13 days. :dunno Now my worries have turned towards possible damage or use of my car. I read on this forum that some car carrier companies will switch the cars from truck to truck. This would just increase the chances that something can happen. I will have the shop inspect my car thoroughly before they take ownership of it and also check the mileage. Once the mods are completed I will need my car shipped back to Boston, I WILL BE USING INTERCITY LINES. I just wished that I knew of them before I shipped my car with The Car Carrier. If you have had an experience such as mine please share it and any course of legal actions you were able to follow. Now I feel a little better but I still miss my car. :jedicryin

Thanks for listening.

that's really strange. I've shipped my car with sucess with Autolog twice already. (I'm not trying to advertise them here, just stating that I've had sucess with them). My car arrived from NY to CO twice within the two week allotment.

Well, I may have to look up Autolog. But I will never use "THE CAR CARRIER" again.

am having some work done on my car and I live in Mass and the work is being done in California. So I go online and find someone that claim "America's #1 Auto Transport Specialists". So I decided to go with them. WHAT A MISTAKE! First of all it took them 18 days to get my car there. I just had the guy from where my car was dropped off tell me that I have dimples in the hood from when rocks must have hit it and to top it off my car had 15 more miles on it then when it left me. PLEASE do not use this company unless you do not care about your car. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and the FMTSA about the delay in delivery and now it looks like I will have file another for unauthorized use of my car. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY AND TELL A FRIEND.

Here is their pledge

Our triple pledge is
Performance, Service & Reliability :nono

Why didn't you use Intercity Lines? They are a supporting vendor and you get a discount IIRC..

No, at the time I was just getting into the board and did not know of Intercity Lines. I wish I did because they are local to me. I did go online and asked for a quote and it was kind of high. Somewhere on the upper end of $1700. Here is the email I got with the discount.

Is this with the bimmerfourm.com discount?
>
> Intercity Lines Price: $1,710.00 - Enclosed Transport
> Fuel Surcharge: $86.00
> Total transport cost: $1,796.00 (includes a $86.00 Fuel Surcharge Fee)-
> Enclosed Transport

Richard,
That is correct.

Thanks,
Jim

I may need to think of another way of getting my car back to me.

Hey my car made to California. Let's see, it was dirty as s*#@, and I mean that literally. Here is the good part. It had been driven about 15 miles since it left me. If I'm not mistaken, that is illegal use of my vehicle. Don't use "The Car Carrier" company.

Try Pilot Transport. We use them every week to ship between 5 and 9 cars. Our deliveries are very time sensitive, as our events don't work without cars. We've never had issues with delivery. Only once have we had any damage and it was taken care of without issue (and this is over a 2.5yr time period of shipping the same cars every week throughout the US and Canada)

"The Car Carrier" company is a very unprofessional company. My car has been driven 15 miles and they are trying to say that the paperwork that shows this look fishy. I say the only thing fishy is the way that they try to dodge the issue. I have had both the owners Bob and Tom hang up on me when I am trying to work out why my car was driven 15 miles. I may be through trying to work with them. I will file another complaint with FMCSA for unauthorized use of my car. Tell you friends to stay away for this company. Heck, don't even send you enemies to them. They are that bad.

The 15 miles on the car probably isn't that big of concern. At least I'd probably let it go a bit. My guess is that this company sublets spots on trucks as your car makes its way across the country. It is more than possible that your car was on as many as 5 or 6 different trucks. Sometimes this means moving the car from one freight yard to another. I'm surprised the owner of the company didn't explain this to you, but that's more of a reason to not do business with them in the future then a few miles. Now, if there is evidence of abuse, I retract that statement.

I have to agree with you that 15 miles is not much to complain about, however, it is mostly the way that I am being treated when I want to talk about it with them. The attitude is more or less we have your money and your car is where it is suppose to be, so we have nothing else to talk about. This is what makes me mad. :mad

segue007,
I am currently experiencing much difficulty with the Car Carrier in connection with, ironically enough, the shipment of my car from Boston to California (SF). Pickup was on time (June 15), but it has not yet been delivered.

I was told on June 29 that it would be delivered with 2-4 hours notice on June 30, July 1 or July 2 (forcing me to be at the beck and call of some delivery driver). I didn't receive a call on any of those days, nor did I hear from them until I called them yesterday (July 5). So after scuttling my weekend plans, they NEVER delivered the car. I asked to speak to a manager yesterday, they said they would call back, and I asked again this morning, but have not heard from them.

They did call to say that the car would be delivered today, but again, I have not heard from the driver. I'm hoping that they are not holding my car out of spite for my having requested to speak to a manager.

I checked them out on the BBB website and much to my dismay, they have an "F" rating (one of the lowest ratings possible). I wish I would have known this before I went with them (they were recommended by a moving company in Boston which is highly reputable - scary).

At this point, my number one concern is getting my car (and returning the rental car I have had for the past 3 weeks), and then to file formal complaints about the company. From what I have read in this forum and on the web, this company is not reputable, nor should they be trusted.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY - THEY DO NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR PROMISES OF CUSTOMER SERVICE OR EVEN PERFORMANCE OF THE ONE THING THAT THEY DO - DELIVERY OF VEHICLES!

Here's hoping that I get my car!

I am soooo sorry that you are experiencing the same issues that I had. I hope that your car gets there without any other issues. I have filed a complaint with the BBB in Placentia CA. I have also filed two complaints with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. I sent the Car Carrier a Demand letter, but that was just to get them to take notice. There is very little that can be done unless you have some damage (I hope that you don't). The next time you call don't ask to speak with a manager ask to speak with Robert Dana Harriman or Thomas Loran Anderson. These are the owners. But don't expect anything from them, they both hung up on me when I would not accept what they were telling me. Please do file a complaint. Maybe your complaint will be the one that forces this so call business to be accountable for their actions. If I can be of any assistance please let me know. Good luck.
