I think your asking price is a fair one...I just dont have the money right now, nor will I have it anytime soon.

Personally I say just keep it till you return then drop a motor...the new M3 will be out so motor options will be larger and price of older motors should be down some.

I'm thinking of selling the car. Then when i return, BAM, e46 M3.

Damnit! I hate morning traffic. On the way to work this morning and some idiot cuts me off and slams on the brakes. Of course, I hit him at like 5 mph. Did no damage to his car really, but mine got fucked up. Hood is all bent up, think I may have broke a headlight clip. Havent really had time to look at it yet, but I do know the radiator isnt cut or leaking so I think its just cosmetic damage. But damn, I cant afford to be fixing all this. LIFE SUCKS!

I went thru that earlier in the summer, I got rearended by a lady in here new car, like bought it 20 minutes ago new, I lucked out since she went under me, it only got my exhaust, bumper gastank etc, but my trailer hitch killer her car, radiator, support, hood, plastic intake plenum(sp?), I got a estimate for $3200, got the money, shopped around some, got it fixxed for a little under $2k.

The bodyshop across from Pulliam ford gave me the highest estimate of them all, Im just saying.......

Well, Im going to end up letting insurance handle it and just putting it into a shop. If I do the work I may end up missing Eurofest and I dont wanna risk that.

Anyone know a body shop in Cola that once insurance cuts them the check, will install aftermarket parts instead of parts they quoted? I want to install ProjectorZs and maybe the FG hood, instead of OEM lights and hood.

PJ, My magic 8ball says you want to be at the gates around 6:45am Wednesday morning. And of course I got my tickets fool. I just haven't decided whether I'm driving or not. I pulled the ABS controller on my car out last night to be shipped off so if I drive I have to cover up the open terminals on the ABS pump and put the intake back on. Did you see the Bimmerstrasse information? They start accepting cars on Friday, I'm sure we;ll get in there too for secure parking. I assume we're gonna leave 3amish Wednesday morning then?

PJ325i
09-20-2006, 04:30 PM
Well I was thinking. . . if both of us drive. . . we can leave the track if we need to and leave one car as a spot holder :)

4ish. . . fiveish. . . I just wanna be there before the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge Practice Session . . .that starts at 10am . . .

According to Sandy (telephone chic at RA), all the good infield parking will be might be gone by 9-10am . . .

8ball
09-20-2006, 04:37 PM
Yeah I been looking over the schedule. I'm cool with whatever time. I don't wanna be taking the E30 so whether I drive or not depends on if I put teh 540 back together and safely wrap up all the electrical stuff for the ABS. I have a feeling that without the controller I will be without a speedometer also which is not a good thing when following you.

Customs? If its a RHD Roady...Imma kill him at the first AutoX and steal his car.

Update On The Car: Got an estimate..body shop says there is no real way to sneak in the aftermarket stuff, so its going back OEM. Also, they cant have the top painted and it be covered under insurance, so I think while the car is in the shop, I may paint the hardtop myself. So everything should be done at once, and they said it should be good for EuroFest. And I'll be able to run in E-Stock still. With a one colored car. Lets keep the fingers crossed!

8ball
09-21-2006, 04:52 PM
Sheesh tell you insurance company you want the check and then spend it how you feel. The insurance company doesn't HAVE to deal directly with the shop. I always give them the estimates and demand a check and then get it fixed where and how I feel like.

Welp...

Looks like my AC compressor locked up over the weekend. Just got back my estimate from Philips

Parts/Labor $1488
AC Compressor
AC Belt
Reciever Dryer
Labor

:/

I JUST dumped a good bit of savings into finishing up my daughter's room... anyone have a suggestion on
a) reputable, better-price local company to do the work or
b) most inexpensive replacement (OEM) parts online/local to have either
b1) Philps install it, and I pay labor, or
b2) alternate suggested mechanic perform the operation....

... :-/ yippie...

Few things. How much did they quote on the actual parts? I assume dryer container is the reciever dryer you mentioned.

Here is my quote from where I order stuff:

Compressor - $571.63 (60.00 Core)
Dryer - $153.85
AC Belt - $20.83

TOTAL $806.31 + Shipping

Not sure what Philips is charger for labor. May wanna check with Imports Only. Its who we all use/know. Call up Olin & Jay, and tell him Perry & Dustin sent ya.

Looks like the second guy gave me more information... same ultimate result of $1488 for parts labor... but here's the breakdown:

AC Compressor $672
AC Belt $25
AC Tensioner (spelling?) $54
AC Pully $41
Dryer (yes dryer container/reciever) $181
O-Rings $8
+ Freon (included ?)

That comes to a total parts list of $981
With tax comes to: $1039.86

Which means labor is: $ 448.14

... whatcha got? :D

Oh... btw, told them to go ahead and cut the other belt so that I can at least drive it while I get my finances in order... luckily summer's over and wont need it. Said they would do that for me, just will have no AC (which i don't have now) and no Defrost. I'm ok with that for now.

keep checking this thread to see if you ever meet during the week somewhere for drinks & such. I am local and would like to meet some other BMW owners and noticed the Oct. 15th date but I have scuba classes to teach that weekend. Is there another meet date or casual day that is planned?

Please let me know ~

Austin, sent ya a PM back.

About Imports Only...in short...yes. They are a superb shop with two excellent enthusiast who work there. Olin does a lot of track racing, and Jay is an avid AutoXer. I would trust my car there, and many others have already done it. I know PJ has taken two cars there, and I believe Mike had some work done there as well. Then again I would like to try another place :-)

Yes, a quick machine + hand-detailed car wash is about 3 miles from you. If you're heading out of town on blossom, cross the bridge... the road takes a sharp turn to the left, just after the large ford (chevy?) dealership on the left... You'll notice at that curve, on the right and Exxon station. It has a carwash there. I think it's "Franks Carwash" -- they do a pretty good job.

Secondly, there's a car wash near 5-points on Gervais St. It's one of the oldest ones... same style, machine + hand-detail. I think their slogan is/was "Best Hand Jobs in Town" ... :-)

They're on the sharp hill (on the right) just before you get to harden street from downtown.

I just washed and waxed my car yesterday :-) ... at home.

Good luck.

there was a '95 white LTW after the auburn game when i was walking home... he was stopped at a light when i was walking across... the guy was cool, he waved to me (but that's because i opened my mouth and yelled "lightweight M3!!!" and stared at it the whole walk across the road)

BTW . . .Time Warner Cable sucks . . .

They told me a router upstream of their network is blocking ICMP traffic. But I sent them reports of a RoadRunner router blocking ICMP, TCP, and UDP traffic . . . a$$holes couldn't troubleshoot a network if the answers were scripted to them.

PJ325i
10-12-2006, 10:08 PM
I haven't had a problem with hosting for that last 5 years. . . it just recently started. It started when added some routers and re-subnetted this side of Friarsgate . . . Dustin escaped it . . .

It's the switch over here that they are using; the TWC Van is always posted at it . . . .

Since RR was only thing in the area back in 2K . . . I had no choice . . . DSL is here now so I will switch . . . When I had it in 99 it NEVER went out . . .a touch slower than cable . . . but I'll take reliability anyday . . . besides . . .I know some of techs and have str8 shot to them if I run into anything. . .
