Is there anything that really needs to be covered when spraying down the engine with degreaser and water? Also how long can you leave the degreaser on? Oh yeah and my engine covers aren't on right now, I think I may need to put those on before doing this? What do you guys think?

I've heard the COPS are very sensitive to water in other cars. Someone reported ruining 8 of them in a Crown Vic.! I'd definately put the covers on before I sprayed any water around them.

Eninge bay is pretty clean now but does anyone know of a good way to clean the alternator?
