i was washing my mom's 525i today, and when cleaning the wheels, there obviously was brake dust, but after washing all the brake dust off.. there is still some left on the inside of spolkes, i tried scrubbing hard and putting in elbow grease, but the little smudges wouldnt go.. are there any products that can get rid of the residue? i used meguire's wheel cleaner..

Don't know if this would hurt it or not, so I'd wait for someone else to comment before suggesting you do it...but I am sure that a minimally diluted Castrol Superclean rinsing and scrubbing would get it off no problem.

Try eagle1 A2Z or clay.

pretty much any wheel cleaner will get it off. I just used some regular generic shit on my wheels with some marks that have been on the wheel for a few months and they came off very ez.

Yea, but you might as well buy A2Z. $5 at WalMart.

if it's tar, it would be pretty hard to get off. try using a product called "Goo Gone". You can probably get that at office depot, staples, or office max. it's a citrus solution and cleans almost anything hard to clean. however, before trying it on your wheels, you should test it out first.

Goo-Gone is a great product, but it also contains a strong organic solvent. I used on the rims of my 944 to remove the glue where some idiot put weights on the outside of the rims. It finally remove the glue, but it also remove the clear coating on the rims. So I'd use it with caution.

If it's tar, go with a tar remover. But get it off the rims quickly.

Seriously, try some A2Z first. Let it soak for a few seconds, then use a toothbrush to scrub the area. Rinse it off with a lot of water. I used A2Z on the back of my rims to remove 4 years of brake dust. It took a lot of scrubbing, but they came clean.
