lovemye34 06-03-2005, 02:40 PM niiiice...cant wait to see the final product
GriMpY 06-03-2005, 03:01 PM looks good... what sides are those???
WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 03:05 PM looks good... what sides are those???
got me some Rieger ones - figured with the 20" wheels it would look good. I don't want to lower the car too much more with the coilovers. The sides will give the body a lower look and hopefully a front lower spoiler if I can find one that doesn't cost $1200!
Ken21 06-03-2005, 03:11 PM are those OEM M5 bumper ??

I thought Rieger was ABS plastic... Looks fiberglass... Thought it was the RD one.
Good choice though... Check out this ride... It's a board members... Similar setup to what you are going for.
FifthStreetz 06-03-2005, 03:26 PM looks like its gonna look hot, are you repainting your car at the same time? Also which one is better? ABS plastic or Fiberglass?
lovemye34 06-03-2005, 03:31 PM are you stickin with the color, or changin it?
shragon 06-03-2005, 03:31 PM should be hot once done!!
KB535i 06-03-2005, 03:37 PM be sure to keep us updated on the progress. Cant wait to see the finished car
Hypr5 06-03-2005, 04:46 PM Oh, this is gonna be sexy, cant wait to see the completed project!
btw: to who asked: ABS is less prone to cracking than FG.
WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 05:13 PM are those OEM M5 bumper ??
yes OEM front and rear bumpers
WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 05:14 PM looks like its gonna look hot, are you repainting your car at the same time? Also which one is better? ABS plastic or Fiberglass?
ABS Plastic is more durable as it flexes - Fiberglass is more ridged and prone to cracking. The sides are fiberglass as I couldn't find a ABS Plastic one
WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 05:15 PM are you stickin with the color, or changin it?
changing it... lemans blue like this one...

lovemye34 06-03-2005, 06:23 PM great choice, that one of my favorite colors for any of the newer model bims
Ken21 06-03-2005, 07:24 PM how much did you pay for the M5 front+rear bumper ???

WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 07:35 PM I really want to get these AC Schnitzer flippers but can't justify spending $700 for them...

can't wait for the results but i have to question: why is the hood not lined up with the fender? may want the body shop to look into this.
dejjisch 06-03-2005, 09:16 PM It will look very good!
love that leemans color aswell, great choice :>
Hypr5 06-03-2005, 09:30 PM It looks like the hood may be "popped" but not open.
WheelsDirect 06-03-2005, 10:08 PM can't wait for the results but i have to question: why is the hood not lined up with the fender? may want the body shop to look into this.

If you know anyone who has a business license that deals with cars in some way, you can get 20% off at the dealership. I got my for around $1150 complete with all the needed parts this way.
SC David 06-04-2005, 04:49 AM Looks promising. Definitely keep us posted.

yellowbullet 06-11-2005, 03:13 PM very nice project! mine's about to start later this month. what are you going to do about the engine bay (paint wise)? leave it?
edit: btw, are you going to run the 540i sport exhaust or custom quad exhuast?
WheelsDirect 06-11-2005, 03:30 PM very nice project! mine's about to start later this month. what are you going to do about the engine bay (paint wise)? leave it?
actually engine bay is being painted black
yellowbullet 06-11-2005, 03:31 PM actually engine bay is being painted black
why black?
WheelsDirect 06-11-2005, 03:51 PM why black?
easier to do - didn't want to have to pull the motor but will get it same color as the car when my turbo project starts
WheelsDirect 06-13-2005, 03:58 PM sneaked a pic in the paint booth although you can't see much...

shragon 06-13-2005, 04:01 PM awesome... looking fwd to seeing new pics!
530e39 06-13-2005, 08:05 PM how much are you paying for the respray?
WheelsDirect 06-13-2005, 08:24 PM how much are you paying for the respray?
hookup so it was only $3k
Breakerbacker 06-14-2005, 08:11 AM $3 k sounds like a steal if the quality is top notch (which is what it sounds like from your other posts.)
It wont be long before the M5 needs a respray, but no one here in New Mexico that I have seen does quality work.
Keep the pictures coming, and fill us in on the details of the process.
WheelsDirect 06-15-2005, 04:47 PM well would have had some nice pics for you guys but my battery died after 1 frekin shot!! lol

Damn good looking paint.
:redspot
aok2me 06-18-2005, 06:30 PM Looks good. Though the silver is a little too bright for me. Not sure if you mentioned it, but what are you going to do with the empty exhaust opening?
///ACS-3 06-18-2005, 07:23 PM Looks great :cool
Could you post pics of the headunit?
Where did you get the custom center trim for the headunit?
WheelsDirect 06-18-2005, 08:21 PM Looks good. Though the silver is a little too bright for me. Not sure if you mentioned it, but what are you going to do with the empty exhaust opening?
ok ok guys guess the majority has voted - the M badge is gone!
The silver actually matches the gear knob perfectly and looks awesome i wouldn't change it for any other silver.
The exhaust will be a custom true dual exhaust as I am planning on cutting into the spare wheel well. Not sure what setup to use ie: mufflers and resonators. But I found some really trick looking exhaust tips - almost square and big - one for each side - should fill that opening nicely!
aznplayaflavah 06-18-2005, 11:30 PM You can pick up those single DIN adapters that he has for his headunit at www.bavauto.com only problem with doing that is you lose the trip computer that comes on the car, so the display on your dash wont work for displaying trip/fuel/time
to some its worth it to have a touch screen nav, to others, it's just too ugly...to each their own.
dejjisch 06-18-2005, 11:34 PM damn dude, this car turned out VERY VERY HOT! I love it, the rims look very nice on that car and the color! :D wow congratz on a beautiful transformation.

really cheap plastic not worth buying. it doesnt match the interior trim at all.

sweet color dude!!!
can't wait for the turbo. if you have inquiries about the turbo, ask themadhatter here; he just put one in his M3 and it's just nasty!!!
Stoka316 06-22-2005, 04:42 PM CAR LOOKS SWEET!!!!
Quick question about your audio setup, I was looking to get the same type of set up, flip out touch screen and TVs on headrest but the audio place i went to told me that if I do get something like that I will not be able to use my 6 disc changer and my steering wheel audio functions will not work eaither..... just wondering if your steering wheel controls work and if u do have a 6 disc changer if that works also??
Thanks

they sell black out tape for the trim. do a search here. someone just recently was doing it... like 4 months ago..
Gunslinger 06-22-2005, 05:38 PM they sell black out tape for the trim. do a search here. someone just recently was doing it... like 4 months ago..
It's made by Trim-Brite, and you can get it at Pep Boys. It is not gloss, however; it's flat.
Also, for a high-end job such as this, it's probably worth it to do the oem stuff. You're almost at the finish line - no need to stall out now.
uNcLeWiGGLy 06-22-2005, 05:54 PM word!
Damn that looks great, but please clean those damn wheels and post a pic.
